parking at work

You must have some serious politics going on where ever it is you work. Glad I don't work there.

whoa, people have "assigned" parking spots. my job has like over 200 people, this would never work. I say let it go, the fact that he made you so mad to think about it and post online about, this jerk won. it's when you look like it doesn't bother you, will get under HIS skin.

I want my car to be as invisible or transparent as I can.

I drive a beater to work, a 93 olds. Employee parking lots are not easy on doors bumpers etc. If i get a dent i don't care. And i notice that with a beater car, no one really parks near me!

I park farther away at my work to avoid door dings and the idiots as they sometimes literally run to their cars after work and tear out onto the road....like school children. Really is lame in my opinion and shows little poise or self control. Our parking rules are not enforced either as carpool spots are taken up by those wanting to be closer to the building. (Lazy types)
I find life is better staying out and away from such activity.

We don't have that sort of trouble at work, other things to worry about. When I get to work, I then decide where to park based upon where everyone else is parked. If I work days I am the first one there, ahead of everyone else by 2 hours. If I'm working nights, I arrive after everyone else leaves. We also don't just stay parked for the whole time we are at work as travel is part of our job. I don't expect to have the same parking spot after I leave. If someone elses car is in the way of something that needs to be done there is never any problem asking them to move.

I don't know where OP works, but the scenario sounds juvenile.

I park a bit further out, as i enjoy a walk before going in the building for 10 hrs or so. When you look at the people who jockey for close spaces at work, restaurants, stores etc. Its no wonder Americans are so obese.

To the OP why would you go out of your way to annoy another person? You will end up as the guy that " Does not play well with others." Just continue to park as you do, unless you are parking incorrectly , and don't go out of your way to [censored] others off.

My work has half a dozen spots by the door for visitors and handicapped. Big cheese boss sometimes parks in Visitors. Coworker used to park in handicapped, illegally, until I called the cops. Big cheese boss took her side (!) and was miffed that we weren't team players, so I never took credit/blame.

Naturally my (secret) position is when you break the law you give up control over how others react, and they have no obligation to you to "be cool."

However, she legally parks with the rest of us now.

This could bounce many unexpected ways. Get over it.

I'm not a fan of backing up. It's not that I can't, it's just, why bother? Also, I can also use all the exercise I can get. And while I'm not anal about my vehicles, why invite door dings? Or people who want to park 3 inches from your vehicle, thus making entry harder? I usually park towards the back, and only in spots I can pull through.

Before we were merged into our parent company, we had spots reserved for the company. We referred to them as "Rock Star Parking"

Not reserved for anyone in particular, not even the DM could say a spot was his. First ones there got the spots. Incentive to come in early.

We used to have a guy who'd go out and move his car multiple times a day when better spots opened up. He'd arrive at 7 and be parked at the far end of the lot, then by 9 something closer would open up so he'd move there. Then again at 10, and so on. Then sometimes he'd leave at lunchtime, only to come back after lunch just to repeat the process. Between the numerous looks out the door (to see what kind of spots had opened up) and the actual journeys outside to move his car, he was just as bad as the smokers with their constant unscheduled extra breaks.

Agreed. The original poster makes it sound like a group of kindergarten children playing in a sandbox and fussing over who gets which toy.

Reminds me of a situation when I visited my Mother in a nursing home. At lunch time I wheeled my mother out to the dining room and parked at a table. While we waited for food, another woman came at me Yelling to get out of her spot as I was sitting where she sits. Of course, these people were over 80 and some had Alzheimer's. :-))
