parking at Target

Most restaurants and department/food stores have pick up spots in front these days. It’s just the amount of them at this Target is asinine. It’s an older strip mall with a smaller parking lot.

Those pickup spots were probably designated that way in 2020 and haven't been used very much since about 2021. Some stores moreso than others apparently.

The Walmart near me has a bunch of pickup spots but they are kind of way off to the side, not in a desirable closeup location.

I usually park far away, especially if I am in the F-350 because I don't want someone purposefully parking close to it. That and I need the walk.
I applaud PU drivers who park in outlying spots, not only to protect their investment, but for being courteous to others using the parking lot. Can't tell you how many times I've had to dip and dive around the rear ends of PU's hanging out into the driveways, often by a considerable amount or if they do pull enough forward they often render the space in front unusable (perfectly OK by me if in the under used portion of the lot) . Having to crawl under extended oversize side mirrors is an issue as well. You can quickly tell who's an inexperienced PU driver by watching how they maneuver in a parking lot! Unfortunately, it seems PU trucks keep getting longer, wider, and taller. Some Home Depots and Lowes have recognized this and are providing PU sized spaces as well as accommodating trucks with work trailers. I don't see general retail properties restriping their lots any time soon to address the issue.

My local Walmart’s have them on the side of the building also, probably safer for their employees.

My local target just doubled the number of curbside pickup spots.

It’s good to have a bunch so people can park with one space in between. Makes loading the stuff in the car easier and safer IMO.

Very useful service and I use it all the time.

An angry soccer mom in a Suburban is going to key OP's car's cause he's in her pickup spot.
I'm not messing with Karen, the angry soccer mom,in the Suburban, that angry venom she will spew,I'll park in the boonies, save my door panels, walk for my daily exercise and when my New Balance shoes with the optional insoles from Amazon need replacing,I'll consider it a win

And yet you still give money to Target? Strange hill to die on OP. 🤷‍♂️

I didn't know anyone besides old ladies, 300-pound Karens, and blue-haired weirdos went to Target. The last time I went to a Target was in 2011 when I tagged along with my wife because I really needed a few cans of flat black spray paint. Imagine my surprise when I discovered they not only had no paint, but basically had no hardware or auto parts, either.

I guess women and beta-males still need someplace to go.

I always park in the order pick up spots. My local Target has 24 of these premium spots right in front of the entrance and I never see anyone ever parked in them. So, when I have to buy something from Target, I always get front row parking.

I can see these spots were probably utilized some during covid, but to have 24 of them four years after covid, and to make customers park farther out is ridiculous. They should have five at most these days. I will wait for you guys to call me a self centered individual, LOL.

I've never seen a Target or Walmart with more than 5 or 6 drive up spots.

I tend to just park at the end of the row, saves time, and I can stand to get a few more steps in.

What baffles me is how people are so lazy, they will sit in the middle of a parking lot, waiting for someone to back out. Take this aerial view from a grocery store near me:

During rush hour, you'll have at least one person idly sitting in the feeder lane, causing a traffic jam for the rest of the customers. Often times, that will get backed up to the freeway... all so one clown can save 15 steps after waiting 5 minutes.

No longer any need for that many special spots in front. If they really care they should convert at least half that into Handicap spaces.
When I could still walk pretty painless, I took the back 40 for the extra steps of exercise that it provides. Less door dings too!
For quite a while now I been kinda forced to take the right up front Handicap spaces. I will give them up if I see someone elderly looking (worse off than me!) to park there even if I am next up. Some would be surprised just how great a shopping cart can fill in for a walker!
Yes, almost all stores here, not just Target have done that. Way too many of those special spots right up front. From Online shopper pick up, to Phone/Pharmacy pick up etc.... and then limited Handicap!

It really is spectacular how they managed to tick everyone off. I refuse to shop there but probably for the complete opposite reason you refuse to!

Basically the products they sell can be had elsewhere cheaper and thus better value elsewhere. I try to keep things simple.

Pricing is decent, but inventory, store conditions and staffing was an issue for me. The last few times I shopped there they were out of multiple items on my list, the stores weren't as clean as they used to be and checkout was a hassle.

Most purchases come from Aldi, Trader Joe's and Costco. The few random items I can't pick up at those places come from Amazon and Walmart+. I'll buy from Walmart as long as I don't need to go anywhere near one of their nasty stores.

I went there to buy one item and they are the only store that stocks it. They did have only one register open and a line 10 deep. I went to self serve and was out pretty quick.

I finally figured out that sheetz "numbered" parking spots are also regular parking spots.

I didnt know where to park because its a gas station and literally 16 of their 20 spaces are marked for food pickup.

24 spots at target seems ludicrous.. esp if 23 are empty. I say no harm/no foul.
If you don't like the parking arrangements of a business, go elsewhere....It's unfortunate so many put their needs before others just to save a 15 seconds of walking time. . It's me, me, me. Saying , no harm/no foul is typical of so many today thinking they do no harm and do not feel they have to abide by simple rules.
