Paint Protect update.

With the break in the weather (75F Wednesday) here in western NY, I got to wash off the salt and mud I picked up during Sunday's drive into the woods.
I rinsed off the wheel wells and the body then proceeded to use the foam gun on the whole truck. No mitt washing like I normally do. Rinsed then cleaned and dried the windows. It was windy and the truck dried quickly. Plus no way was I going to wipe it. Not a complete wash but that's all I could do Monday.
Today it's raining and as I looked out the truck is beading like a freshly waxed vehicle. So that fall application of Paint Protect really lasted.
Now I'll have to decide whether to use it or the Collinite 845 for the spring ritual.

I just picked up a 16oz bottle from Advance auto yesterday. Will try it this spring when it warms up above 40 degrees again. It sold me on "It beats water like crazy" on the label and for $3.95, it doesn't hurt much in the wallet.

After two weeks on my Camry it still looks good. The gloss is better than I expected. Lots of rain in Ohio recently and it's fine for what I need. Beads up great. Already washed it and I can not tell a difference. Also, it is FAR easier than waxing IMO.

What is the purpose of this product...does it just bead water like crazy, or does it actually protect the paint (uv protection, etc...)

Ha, my dad bought a bottle of this. I put it on a daily driver of mine with good paint that my girlfriend uses. Coated 4 months ago. The first few days the finish looks wet, takes a while to totally dry. The first two months I was really impressed, you can almost just hose the car off instead of washing. Now at month 4 it seems to have worn off the hood/roof. But this car has been driven 66 miles a day in a PA winter. Those are hard miles.


I'm impressed with the protection but not with the quality of the finish, but it is so cheap and you use very little. I value protection over finish in the winter,it is a great value.

It has some harsh chemicals in it. Since it is a new and a non traditional product I wonder if it will have any long term negative impact on a finish. I read a user comment somewhere that it ate through their latex glove. I didn't have that happen, but mine are hospital grade.

Keep the bottle upright or it will leak.

I used Collinite 845 on my Liberty and applied 2 coats about a week apart on it prior to the winter. Much to my disappointment it appears the wax didn't hold up nearly as well as it has in the past. I will clay bar it and try the Menzerna Power Lock this time and see if I get better results.

Applied PP365 before this past winter on the truck, not sure exactly when but I'm guessing Sept or Oct. Anyways, all I can say is that its completely worn off at this point. The truck is outside 24/7 and was daily driver through the winter (mild though it was). Last year I did Blackfire Wet Diamond in the fall and it was still beading water over most of the truck come spring.

I'm surprised as I was impressed on how my truck was beading water. That was March 10th. Did you do the whole wash, clay or nanoskin prep before applying? I do that spring and late fall here in western NY.
