Wheel Brush

I normally wash my OEM Alloy wheels before I wash my car with just regular cash wash soap and my old synthetic lamb’s wool wash mitt (have a new microfiber mitt that I use exclusively for the paint, along with my grit-guards and two bucket system). The wheels clean up nicely since I wax my wheels with Collinite 845 at the same frequency as I wax the car and sometimes I hit the wheels with Armor All Wheel Protectant (especially during the winter).

Anyhow my question is I was thinking about getting a wheel brush to help with the cleaning process especially with getting between the spokes and around the recessed lug nuts. Any suggestions as to a brand and/or type of brush?

I try to stay away from brushes as I'm always afraid they're too rough for the alloys, but I do have a Daytona Speed Master JR Wheel Brush that I use sometimes to get into hard to reach between narrow spokes places on wife's C300 to help displace some baked on brake dust.

I have the lug nut cleaning brush. However, I usually only use that when I rotate tires & do a thorough cleaning on both sides of the assembly.

What others do is just have a separate chenille mitt for wheels, as that gives them dexterity to reach between and behind spokes.

I use Mequier's wheel brushes on my wheels when washing. One is a soft flat brush and the other is a tapered brush.

Here's a GREAT TIP for cleaning wheels between washes: Use a California "Dash" brush on the wheels, it works great. I keep one labelled "wheels" in my garage for a guick touch up.

The wheel woolies will get between the spokes and even behind them to the inner barrel.

I doubt if a wheel brush is going to work any better than using a mitt, but I am thinking that it will make it a little easier to get deeper into the wheel and under the rotor and behind the spokes...perhaps saving a few minutes of time.

An antiquated attitude. There are brushes specifically designed for such tasks that are worth the price. I speak from experience.
