Package delivered? NEVER Arrived

This info may help someone ordering online using USPS.

I ordered an item from a third-party seller on Walmart.com
I watched the tracking and saw it was delivered.
I never saw it at my front door and right away thought, "porch pirates"

I went to the post office and asked them about it.
They looked up my tracking number info and got a latitude & longitude.
They put those numbers onto a map and printed-out an aerial view of the house associated with the tracking number.
I said, "that's NOT my house".

P.O. employee said the shipper gave me the wrong tracking number and to call Walmart.
I called Walmart and in five minutes, had my refund.

Apparently, when the mailman scans your package upon delivery, the latitude & longitude are recorded.
I never knew that.

Also if it doesn’t show up in your USPS informed delivery that means the package may not be addressed to you. Same apples to other carriers.

they all do now so if you try to claim you did not get it they can pull up and see where it was delivered. BUT i have known the mail man to bulk scan all the packages before delivers them to the location .

welcome!! last summer i got a delivered from UPS, third party seller on Walmart said they could not fill the order BUT UPS said it was delivered!! GLAD i copied + kept all correspondence + after months wallys Master Card gave in after sending copies of the E-Mail from the 3rd party seller, + noting the incorrect description!! dont know where it went BUT never using Walmart Master Card again as they were a royal PAIN to deal with!! NOT the first or last issue dealing with Wallys!!

Wouldn't it be nice if the USPS had a system when the carrier scans it for delivery, it checks the coordinates of where it is being delivered versus the coordinates of the delivery address, and sets off an alarm if the two don't match? I know, too much to expect.

I get my neighbor's mail all of the time. Carrier is simply too careless/clueless to deliver it to the correct address.

20 something years ago, My Brother built me a PC, and Shipped it UPS from his dome in DFW to my Apt in Columbus. I tracked it over the phone every night ( this was back in the Dial-up days). the day it was supposed to arrive, after work, I tracked it again, it said it was delivered.
no Box at my apartment.
Called Customer service, they gave me the address a couple miles away. My Brother Filed a claim with UPS.
a day or two later, the Box showed up at my Door, obviously open, and Missing the Copied software CD's he had included.
Computer booted and worked. next day I get an email from my brother, UPS wants the box to look for signs of tampering. (this box had been used and shipped between us multiple times...)

they collected the box, and we never heard anything further on the matter.

I had Fed Ex say a recliner was delivered. Had a picture of it on someone else's porch. Got a call saying they had a package on their porch for me. Same house number wrong road number, off by one mile.

According to my driver, UPS does at least.

He said it gets flagged and logged into a report somewhere. But in our rural area it's very common for him to hand packages to people in town if they run into each other.

I frequently stop at the truck and tell them I can save them a trip down my road. The drivers always appreciate it.

As such, he said the report of mismatched scan location vs delivery address is mostly ignored out here. Can't say I blame them, but every locale is different

This is also common on Ebay (and the like) scams. They'll send or text you a picture of a random tracking number and hope you don't look into it too much. Sad world we are living in.

They definitely do. Had a customer say they didn't receive a shipment so I contacted by UPS rep. She sent me a screenshot of the delivery location. Turns out it was a shared-type building and it got delivered to the neighbor. Customer walked over and checked and they had it (it was with other pieces that they hadn't looked through yet).

We had a carrier that did that all the time with Amazon packages. My hunch was they were told to do this too, in order to maintain some delivery time frame that they promised they would do for Amazon's business. Doesn't happen anymore though.... A couple times a week, my phone will notify me that someone is at our front door and seconds later, I get a text from USPS that a package was delivered.

They scan all tracking packages at the post office when it arrives and when it goes out for delivery. I've never had any issues with bad tracking numbers. I do get aggravated by sellers saying item has shipped and give you a label created tracking number but you can't get updates from USPS until they get it. Sometimes it's a couple days.

Just had a eBay order get a good tracking number but then stalled at the first place it went. The seller had to send a replacement. And UPS sometimes off loads to USPS and you have to go by USPS tracking info for the final leg.

Amazon if they are shipping out of the area warehouse the package will be here before you can get a tracking number as they drop it off in the middle of the night at the PO.

That's a service level game they play. eBay expects sellers to ship within "x" days so once the seller creates a label, it's considered "shipped". Rockauto suppliers do the same thing.

Yes I know that, tell the eBay seller. But they are usually reliable, more so than FedEx.

I ordered a CV axle off eBay and it was suppose to be here last Tuesday. eBay seller said shipped with fed ex tracking number but it has never been picked up yet. I contacted the seller and they put me off saying they will get right on it. Seems they are waiting on a drop shipment that is delayed. So I canceled and ordered one off Amazon.

I had ordered a new right side control arm for the same car as I thought the front bushing was bad. Turns out it was still good. So went to return the Amazon control arm and they refunded the money and said to keep the part.

Found a couple of small Amazon packages sitting in the rain outside of the door of our back porch on the way to work a couple of weeks ago.
Picked them up and put them on a chair on the porch out of the weather.
Wife asked me if I had ordered anything and I said no, I hadn't.
Turns out they were for our neighbors.
I have no idea who did the last mile delivery.

Could the mailman have been 'bulk' scanning the packages so it would show - out for delivery ?

I recently ordered an item from Amazon. Their tracking reported it was delivered and left on my porch. You cannot tell who's porch this is; it's not mine. For this to be my residence, the package would have had to be left next to the sidewalk..

Amazon has no check box for, "Delivered to wrong location". Their solution is, "Sometimes your neighbor will see that it is not their order and will deliver it to you. So, wait a few days. If it doesn't show up, you can re-order the item."

So I re-order the item. Now delivery is delayed another week.

A few weeks ago, I arrived home after sundown. Before I make my walk to the door, a car pulled up and a woman asked if I was so-and-so. Her car was filled with packages. She was there to deliver an Amazon order. Very odd.
