Where's my package?

Dude in the USPS package sorting area needed a back rest for his Gold Wing. ;)

It might show up, sometimes things must get put in a corner somewhere and then eventually show up.

For a couple years up until a couple months ago, I was the IT Equipment guy for the company I work for, I shipped hundreds of packages a month/thousands per year with UPS. Every once in a while, one would not show up but a week or two later it would randomly appear.

USPS is going down hill i think...I've had way to many problems with their shipping...last thing was they left a card in my mail box saying we tried to deliver but you weren't' home... ...i was right there in the yard doing yard work..i had to go to post office to get it about an hour later.. which tells me they never had the package on the truck.. was at the post office...the package wasn't anything huge or heavy... it was like a 12inch x 12inch box two times that happened in a week

Just got a small packet from China I ordered on the 13th. Go figure.
I've noticed (more when when I was shipping a lot) that China merchants can mail things where the total cost (item and shipping) is less than I pay for shipping. I get that their government can subsidized their internal PO cost to get the business, but how do they get such a discount from our PO system that we cannot compete?

Smart people use UPS.

You mean the bunch that has guaranteed delivery plastered all over their website and they after they take your money and fail to deliver on time they won't honor the guarantee and say "oh our guarantee has been suspended over a year". Is that the pack of thieves you mean?

Yes, we experience this type of issue late last year, first time in our lives, ever. Sometimes things were floating around the mail system for up to 3/4 weeks. Even mailed out Christmas cards floated around between us and family members for up to 4 weeks int he system.
At times we got refunds for return items that never arrived and other times we got merchandise refunds for other stuff that arrived like, ummm... 4 weeks late but the companies would refund us because no one knew where the merchandise was.

Haven't had the issue this year, assumed the USPS was all caught up after being behind cause of COVID but maybe still local issues.
I suspect one or two things will happen, you will get your merchandise soon, or you both will give up and consider it lost, then weeks later it will surprise you and arrive so keep the sellers information if it does and you want to do the right thing and pay him if it ever does arrive.

My wife did this late last year with someone on eBay, they sent her the stuff, never arrived, seller refunded her money (it wasnt a cheap item either) item from CA came like, I dont know, six weeks later. My wife did contact the seller so they could get paid but I guess so much time went by they told her dont worry about it, keep it it because it was such as hassle.

USPS is terrible about posting an accurate status of your tracking number(s). Countless times they've listed my packages as delivered, and then they would actually be delivered a day or two later. This package is turning out a bit different as it has been over a week past the original scheduled delivery date...

Every carrier mis-routes or loses or damages shipments. It's laughable when people talk how "XXX has never lost one of my deliveries". Uhhhh, yeah, that's called LUCK, nothing more ! :ROFLMAO:

A guy sent me a backrest for my motorcycle via USPS. As soon as he sent it, he sent me a text with the tracking number. The online status showed an original delivery date of last Saturday. It didn't show. I went back online to check the status again that following Monday. It showed that it had left the Cincy post office and was en route to my local P.O. The next day the status was updated to "Late delivery, your delivery has been delayed, but it will be delivered." The status has not changed since. Friday I submitted a inquiry online and I received a call and an email on Saturday, both from the same person. The lady I spoke to said they didn't know where the package was, but she assured me it would be tracked down. Today, the sender spoke to this same lady, after I sent him her phone number, and the same thing, she couldn't tell him where the package was, but she had every confidence it hasn't been lost. I am not out any money as I was going to pay the guy for the backrest after I received it (with the senders approval), and the guy who sent it lost the receipt, so he can't claim the insurance for it. This lady said it could possibly take another week or two to finally be delivered. Have any of you had a similar issue with USPS and still have you package delivered a week or two later, or is it more than likely lost? Though I suppose it's possible, I don't see how a box that size can be lost...
Have had several 2-day priority small packages take at least 9 business days.

To be honest, I don't know if I can say any delivery company has ever lost one of my packages. I've had them delay deliveries, I've had them lie by saying a package was delivered when it wasn't, I've even had them deliver to the wrong address (which they then picked up and delivered to me), but I don't think they've ever lost one of my packages...

When I worked for DHL, I found documents (sent in an envelope) that were lost for years. But those were small and fell into an inaccessible place. It happens though that the package gets put on the wrong truck or plane, it could be in China by now...

I have had USPS lose an envelope or two over the years (that is more understandable), but never a package...

The packaging breaks, the labels get misread etc... it happens but unless the content gets destroyed (which also happens) they should arrive with a bit delay

With USPS these days you might get a situation where the package is "in transit to next destination" according to tracking info for like two weeks and then suddenly it appears.
