Hi,

My lkast two oil analyses for my 83 300D, posted in the diesel section show oxidation as being very high. One drain was D1 for ~3700 mi, the other was delvac 1300s for ~3200 or so. this seems really high to me, and I would have to guess kils the lubricating abilities of my oils. I know the engine isnt overfilled, so that isnt thge issue. What are the other possible reasons why I might be having this problem?
I saw tooslicks post about his UOA(ox=64.4), and there was a reply about oil oxidation due to stuck EGR valves. I know my EGR valve looks oily and looks like it has some oil seeping at the gasket between it and the intake manifold.
A lot of peopkle disable egr on these cars, so I might have to do that... if its faulty. How would I check it?
What else should I check, so I dont oxidize my oil so badly?
Thanks,

JMH
