Today’s multi viscosity oil is far more shear resistant than it used to be and few engines are of a design that will cause notable shearing of the VII. It is a phantom that is often blamed but rarely the cause. Many modern engine designs do produce notable fuel dilution however. What makes it difficult is that the vast majority of the UOA shown on here are not accurately measuring fuel dilution.
