I have a 2007 chevy silverado with the 5.3 engine , 6 qts oil capacity , and have been using the specified delco pf48 non e core. I was wondering what is the advantage of using an oversized oil filter , as the pf48 looks small for a v8 engine. And if using an oversized filter , do you add more oil to make up the difference? And what would be a good one in the pure one , delco , wix , mobil 1 etc ? Thanks

The oil always needs to be correct on the dipstick. So if you add a larger filter or remote filter or oil cooler you need to add more oil. Which is a good thing, except for the cost of the oil.
