searching for "regular" spark plugs for girlfriends 2018 kia optima FINALLY showed cheaper options!! less than $20 delivered for copper-nickel ones because no one stocks the lower profit basic plugs!! on an EZE DIY install its a no-brainer IMO!!!

I think the best practice is to replace old plugs with the same brand and type originally installed. I'm glad it was an easy job. You may be doing it again soon.
Did the original ones have a problem? It did take me a while to find some reasonable priced $7 platinum plugs for my Focus, I have done copper but they do disappear fast and then I'm changing them every couple years.
Change plugs once every 90-100k ? Count me in, iridium all the way.
I hope your Optima isn't a turbo because TGDI can be very hard on plugs. Those cheap copper/nickel plugs will be shot in less than 15k

Yea, with the higher energy spark, multiple sparks per cycle, and all the other things that go along with today's engines, downgrading from a precious metal plug to an old school copper/nickle isn't the greatest idea. Unless you plan on replacing them every 10-15k.

absolutely ZERO reason to not put an iridium plug in any vehicle now.
even my lawnmower has an iridium plug in it.

While it's not really any of my business how the OP handles the maintenance on his girlfriends car, it just seems foolish to cheap out on a set of spark plugs when the OEM laser iridium plugs can be had on RockAuto for $9.31 each.
The replacement interval for these plugs is 105,000 miles and for most vehicle owners the plug change will be a once-in-a-lifetime event.
The plugs are NGK SILZKR7E11, NGK code 92315

my 07 Ram Hemi specifies copper plugs at 30K for all 16 plugs. i pilled a couple at 30K and they still looked new and gap was .002 too large. L haven't changed them yet.

iridums are a straight upgrade over a copper plug and the rest of the truck will fall apart between you’d need to change them again
True but they went long life shortly after that and with 16 spark plugs chances of severe misfires is much lower. My 16 Ram came with Iridium or Platinum I can't remember but it has Iridium XP's in it now.

. what an absolute waste of time and spark plugs. i can do an LS in the time it takes to do the two rear passenger cylinders on a hemi.I just replaced double platinum plugs in the 4.3 (O.E. specified) and the gap had only opened up from 60 thou to 63 thou after 120K kms. I put in single platinum NGKs because the truck has only a few years of life left. It is a 18 yr old truck in the rust belt.
Consider the NGK G-Power. They are single platinum and not too much more money than the copper/nickel

I bought the wrench that works for the rear plugs. also taking out the fender liners helps a lot and makes it lots easier.

5.7L hemi.
Pickup's aren't bad but in a Challenger/Charger a little more involved but hey the LS rear passenger side even in a truck takes as long to do as the whole left bank lol. My 16 Hemi is quite as a church mouse at 141k miles. My Sierra Denali (now my son's) has not been anywhere near as solid of a truck for reliability and comfort.that’s a job i will never do again, spark plugs on a tick machine
You will hear more LS's ticking then Hemis and I am a fan of both

how many times have you done manifolds and bolts? water pumps door hinges sounding like grandparents mattress etc. LS vs Hemi isn’t even a comparison.
