Overfilling oil / 5mm past max on the dip stick

I just overfilled my 2007 Ford Focus today when topping up the engine oil. Is it a problem that I went about 5mm past the max line on the dip stick. I know I can unscrew the oil filter to let some oil out. Anyone know for certain if this will be a problem?

No problem. They build in a certain amount of leeway one way or another due to all the jiffy lube techs out there.

Now if it was 10cm, yes, I would say drain some. 5mm is nothing.

I wouldn't worry about being over 5mm. Anything less than 1/2" isn't worth worrying about AFAIK.

I crammed 4 more oz of MMO in the Jetta the other day...over filled it yes. Not concerned.

AM I okay with 16oz of MMO added to an already full fill? I drained the oil filter but it is stull higher up past full on the dipstick
