Our Dog Passed on Friday

Sorry to hear of your loss. Losing a cherished pet is never easy. Take some solace that she was where she was comfortable, safe, and loved. In your arms. I had to take my first dog, George, to the vet when the time came and did not stay with him as he went to sleep. I'll never forgive myself for not being with him, but didn't want to see him pass either. I never let it happen again with the several I've lost since.

Time will make the pain easier to deal with, but there will always be that empty space in your heart. Best way I've found to fill it is with another fury child that needs a loving home. When you're ready, visit the shelter. Lots of them there.

Thank you all for your kind responses. I didn't want to put the burden on the group, but needed the support and you guys really made me feel better. Can't thank you enough.

As to the scent diffusers, my wife loves them. I unplug them every chance I can as I always thought of them as fire hazards. Never thought about the possible health affects. I'll continue to quietly toss them in the trash and avoid telling her why.

X100.

My wife is an attorney and has donated a lot of time to animal rescue over the years. There are so many animals that need a good home. We are a little full right now with three rescue hounds, two rescue cats, and three rescue horses, but folks like you who provide good homes for these animals are doing the Lord’s work. When you are ready, get another dog or two (or three!). The animals have been a blessing to our home, and have also been great for our boys.

Thoughts with you again during a difficult time.

Very sorry this happened. I never really understood the hurt that goes with losing pets until recently. We lost one that I cared for 18 years.
I totally get what you are feeling. Lots of folks here have expressed similar recently, so there are many with you who know your pain. Remember the good times. Remind yourself how good a life you provided.

Very sorry for the loss of your beloved dog.
Very similar to our Tasha´s passing. We had decided it needed doing. The 15 yo old shepher-mix died in my wife´s lap, a block from the vet.

Understand exactly how you feel. Very sorry for your loss.

Allow yourself time to feel what you feel. It’s rough I know. Brutal at times here and there.

When the time is right … be able and willing to get another one. Wil be the best action to take
