My understanding that this is a two stroke engine. What makes this engine so special? Stihl really talks this motor up in their catalog. Does anyone have comments and expierence with this motor? How is power and durability? Thanks.

It is clearly a four stroke engine which uses oil with gas to operate. Try lawnsite.com for answers to your question.

Stihl refers to their saws as "high compression" saws: whether they are higher than anybody else's I do not know.

Most of these "eco friendly" engines are a pain to start and don't run well until they get warm. I prefer the older, non-regulated 2-cycles.
