Stihl 4-MIX?

Anyone here have any expierence with Stihl's 4-MIX trimmer engines? Good or bad? All their website says is that it is some hybrid of 2 and 4 cycle.

The 4-mix engines are great. They still use a 50:1 mix but operate on the 4 cycle principle. I had a 110 then just bought a KM130. These engines don't run as many rpm but have more torque. I have owned one since they first came out and continue to use one. Feel free to ask any particulars!!

My family has been using Stihl products for 30 years. My dad finally wore out his 20 year old trimmer. I have a FS-85 trimmer and love it, and was going to buy another for my dad, but stihl no longer makes it. Its either a smaller FS-80 with the pro engine or FS-90 with the 4-mix.

I guess ill try the 4-mix. I remember the days when you could by a 2 cycle engine and actually adjust the carberator. Man those were the days

The 4-mixes have mixture screws but they have limiters on them to preclude the user from makeing major changes. You can use the LS to get a smoother idle but the HS screw does little . This is true of all new engines as the EPA tries to get cleaner emissions. The makers do a great job with the engines considering the stiff pollution requirements.
