opinions on slick 50 one grease

just wanted y'alls opinions on slick 50 one grease for use on auto pistol slide rails,specifically glock slide rails.i know the manual doesn't call for grease but it makes me feel better to have some here vs gun oil due to wear properties of grease vs oil.what is your thoughts on this particular grease for this application?

I use Amsoil Series 2000 on mine. Good grease, it's white, stays in the gun, etc.

Like what? They use oil for gears so I'm not sure where you are going.

I have a friend that is a LEO with the Richmond CA police force. He has a first gen glock with 300k rounds through it. He has burnt through several barrels and it still has not worn out the slide and frame. The Tennifer coating on the Glock is so hard it wont wear out if you use oil.

You dont need grease.

300,000 rounds? If he got the pistol in the early 1980's when they were first available, that is about 11,000 rounds a year, every year. Almost 1,000 rounds a month, every month. Hard to believe.

ahh tempest you are correct."they" do use oil on gears but gears are sealed and the rails on a firearm are exposed.don't you use grease on your zerk fitting on your truck and tractor?imo grease is used on highly stressed friction areas i.e. zerk fittings on machinery and also on wheel bearings that also get hot from friction of the wheels spinning.just my opinion on things.

If you have a typical dif, then the wheel bearings use the gear oil. Large trucks also use oil in their wheel bearings rather than grease.

It's the ADDITIVES in the lubricant that really make the difference in terms of wear protection. And if your oil is running out and not staying in place, then you are using the wrong oil. The oil I use is still very wet after shooting hundreds of rounds.

Sometimes grease on certin parts of the gun can be better than oil. I like to use greases like Wilson Combat Ultima-lube or Shooters Choice all weather gun grease on the slide of my Kimber Ultra CDP II when I carry in the hot summer when oil will not stay put.
