Did some searching on this and didn’t see much mentioned, but knowing that the Driven DT40 is the go to for Porsche 997’s, I thought I’d see what they had to offer for my 1979 Ford 400. They suggested the GP-1 15w40. Any thoughts on this oil?
I don't see it as that special and their Pennsylvania crude thing looks gimmicky to me. I'd rather use Mobil 1 15w-50 racing which you can get a 5 quart jug of at Walmart for the price of 2 quarts of that. But I'd use Mobil Delvac Extreme, Chevron Delo XSP, and Valvoline Full Synthetic 15w-40 as well.
I don't see the engine going wrong with Euro oil either so those can be used too. Ford specifies regular API 10w-30 which probably was 2.9 HTHS and then sheared to less in a few hundred miles so it's not hard to match or exceed that requirement.
I can't imagine it's still stock, power mods are so common and cheap for these. If it is still bone stock with its epa carb, intake, and broomstick cam with no lobes yeah anything will do.
Driven is basically enthusiast oil.. and if I was interested in spending that much...
HPL would get my money every single time.
I dont see how a 400 is anything special.(maybe the OP can provide details)
Group II+ delvac 15w40 is a massive upgrade to what was used when it came out.

Driven is not the "go-to" for 997's or any other Porsche despite being pushed as such by some. Having a bit of familiarity w/ the P'car community, Motul, Mobil 1, Redline are all popular choices with the first two being much more common than Driven.
That said, your Ford mill, if stock, is relatively low stressed and should be fine on most quality 5/10/15w40 oils, however I would select ones that have sufficient ZDDP levels for an older engine. Mobil 1's are readily available here for example: M1 ZDDP
