No Kidding! Hopefully those humanoids that are driving around in their suv with 20K on the oil already have access to and read their email

Onstar now sends emails when you are overdue for an oil change. Note that 11% of the cars are overdue for an oil change. And many of us thought that people are changing oil too frequently...

This is nothing new. OnStar has always done this among other things. It is a very intrusive and in your face. not to mention extremely expensive, system. The article may be something new but e-mail notification of OC being due is not.

Just because OnStar indicates that the "oil was never changed" does not imply that the oil was never changed. The OLM may not have been reset, that is all. Quick changers and even the dealerships (hurray for 16-yr old experts!) forget to or, don't know to reset the OLM.

Also, my friend's G5 is doing OCIs 1.5x the OLM indicator without a hitch.

haha... exactly! I need less 'alarms' and 'notifications' in my life, not more.

My dad bought an 09 Buick Lucerne last year and it comes with the one year subscription to On-Star. He said he gets emails every once in a while with a full diagnostic check of everything including his air pressure! 20 years from now maybe Big Brother will be tracking all this information and mail you tickets for speeding.

theres talks about the tracking of vehicle information to crack down on vehicle malfunctions causing the check engine light to come on and increasing emissions, its supposed to come out with OBD3 but its hard to tell, its only rumor.

we had a older lady come in , asking for a oil change well we told her what oils we offered and she dialed onstar they recommended a synthetic so she got a synthetic oil change LOL.

Wonder if Onstar sends you an email at 50,000 miles letting you know your car is about to fall apart, and to start shopping for a new one?
