OK..I switched to synthetic...what's a safe OCI?

I believe in changing a factory fill at about 1K miles and then Dino for the next few oil changes (3K miles) Before going to an extended OCI with Synthetic, nothing to do with Rings not seating and that hooplah, just mainly to flush out any assembly crap. I would then go to synthetic and run it for say 5K miles and then do a UOA. See how it looks and go from there
 
If you are using the Extended Performance version of Mobil 1, I'd say 10,000 miles is fine....

If you are using the 9.5 TBN, API-SM version of Mobil 1, I'd stick with Toyotas max. recommendation of 5000 miles - unless you test it several times and confirm the longer changes....

I do not recall specifically if the label indicated "Extended Performance".

Guess I'll change it out at 5k and go with the extended version next change. Otherwise what's the point?
 
I know that Bill the Warranty Guy is going to come in at any moment now and say

But then again, IMO, a 7500 mi. Service interval with regular M1 with NO filter changes or a 15,000 mi./1yr service interval with M1 EP with a filter change at 7500 miles can be possible depending on the driving conditions.

Of course, test the oil.

Now if it will give me the same trouble free service as my 92 I will be very happy.
