Ok - fess up - who has oil-predjudices?

I love all oils. Especially a good olive oil.

But if I had a predjudice against any oil it would be Texas Refinaries. Only because the HDEO that my father used to buy was excellent and all of a sudden they just dropped off the face of the earth. Haven't even heard of them any more. I still have full change of it in my 454 with about 2 hrs on it.

Given the name and the distribution model, I thought until recently that Amsoil was distributed by Amway. Amsoil's marketing and distribution turn me off. Same with Zaino.

My uncle told me bad stories about Pennzoil about 10 years ago - something about how you could tell how bad it was by the smell. I took this with a grain of salt. Besides, I was "in the know" for using Mobil 1 with a Fram filter at 3k intervals.

Used Castrol GTX for a while, because it was easiest to get in a 5-quart container in the Bay Area. Easier to recycle that way. You have to admit, GTX has a sweet looking bottle too.

Ditched Fram filters several years ago, when a bad seal on a filter almost wasted the motor on a friend's Type R. The filter studies started showing up on the Net around that time too.

Using Pennzoil dino now because of good availability and good VOA's on this site. Concerned by shearing shown in some UOA's, so looking for something new.

I'm getting into the idea of the sleeper dino oils now. Probably will try the Mystik 10w30 next.
