Do you have the actual manufacturer numbers to allow for comparison? I mean, something published by Mobil? Trying to compare and contrast a few things.

Honestly man it's pretty much a wash. There are many on here far smarter than I that like the 0W variant better mainly because it uses a higher-end base oil blend (PAO+ester). The "0W" rating is just the symptom of that better chemistry, not the reason.

ESP 5W-30 is still excellent, but it's not the boutique'ish blend the 0W-30 is. The difference is so negligible I'd just buy whichever grade happens to be cheaper than the other

Maybe we're approaching the oil technology era where almost all of them are so good, we're munching on the very corners of a discussion (assuming suitable OIC)? Fortunately the combination of MPG and government involvement has provided a target for the discussion - thin vs thick.

Agree for sure - so, it "could" be correct, or accurate enough? Not trying to argue the point, but was looking for simplicity.

already gave you the answer. just plug in the values from the PDS you want to compare and you'll get actual info.

5W no longer has ester.

Given the stringent approvals the 5W-30 has, I really don’t think it matters but to many here, it does.

Not to me. Both are excellent. I happen to have gotten a great deal on jugs of the 5W and it's way more oil than I need for any of my engines.
