Lucas was not used with the 0w40 but was used with the 10w40HM (which I replaced the 0w40 with after a week) and with the Amsoil I was using the following change. Im not looking at this as a troubleshoot here. Truck is running fine, and truck was running fine when I got it. Only issue was when I switched to the 0w40, and the truck began running excessively noisy. Only reason Im switching off the amsoil now is that its a little pricey to be running at 5k intervals and Ive had good luck with M1 and see what good luck everyone has with it and am kind of stumped with the problem i had that one time. Also the fact that I was able to grab a 5qt jug of 10w40hm for $22 at WM's did sweeten the incentive to try out my mix idea. Im gonna use 4.5qts HM and 4qts 0w40. Im pretty sure Ill be ok but I was looking for other opinions on this, substanciated with some thoughts as to why. Thanks again guys! Any more thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated as there arent many threads on here relating to MB AMGs motors.

Well saw a similar question on M1's site and they said theres no problem mixing different weight M1 oils. Im thinking its possible that I had a lifter stuck or something when I used the 0w40 and it came loose from the additives in the 10w40HM and the Lucas treatment. I also went out and drove it extra hard after I switched out from the 0w40 to 10w40HM and made sure to redline each gear, in case I had an issue with carbon deposits or something like that and sure enough the motor smooth backed out within a day or 2. Like I said could have been a coincidence but Im going to go with a 60/40 mix of 0w40 to 10w40HM and see if Im still good. If I am Im going to stay with it.
