My teenage son has a Stratus with a 2.4 that consumes about 1 quart a thousand miles. Mileage is 80 K and we have run 5w30. No notorious headgasket leak detected (Yet)
He added the forsaken STP and did lessen his consumtion. I was wondering if it would be preferable to just run 10w30 or 10w40 high milage, or even 5w-40 Rotella Sythetic......or just let it consume oil. It gets him to school, ball, work, and out for Pizza not much more is required. We just love to mess with things.

You're going to get a million answers on this one, from do an Auto-RX treatment, to use 15w40 HDEO....be ready for a barrage of answers. Your suggestion of Rotella T Synthetic 5w40 is a good one, I'd go with that, if the oil is easily availiable.

But if you like to mess with things, try a whole bunch of stuff - flushes, oil thickeners, straight weights, see what works! 2.4 Chryslers seem to be tough engines that will run well on just about anything....
