Oil filters on Rockauto.com

I was browsing oil filters on rockauto and they list two ACDelco PF47 filters. A Pf47E for $4.07 with no pic that is described as "Duraguard OE design w/threaded insert" which I assume is e-core. And a PF47 for $4.31 described as "CLASSIC DESIGN W/THREADED BASE PLATE" and a pic of a black filter. I wonder if this is non-ecore?

Rockauto isn't particularly cheap on oil filters but I noticed one filter that had an interesting price. They list the Bosch Premium for $3.22. That is half the normal price for this filter and it's the same filter as the P1 without the grippy paint. Based on their oil filter prices I'm not sure why it is so cheap.

PF47E is Ecore. I wonder why the classic filter is black unless it is an Ultraguard which I don't think it is.

AC makes the Ecore sound great but we know better. They mention the classic is still available but I wonder if they are old stock or are still being manufactured? They should just go back to the classic design and then I'd use them again.

They don't make the Ultraguard in the PF47 size, but do in the PF52 size. I have seen the AC Delco classic available for the filter you mentioned and my other application which would take a PF13 if I wanted to use one.

I also think they have some pretty good prices on oil filters, not all are less expensive then other places but I got a Wix for a friends car for just under 4 dollars. I also ordered some Bosch filters that were half the price, as you mentioned, than the closest auto parts store that carries them.

ACDelco reintroduced the classic design late last year. It's should be more available than it is and the only way they are made.

Yeah rockauto has good prices on the WIX and especially the Bosch premium. I prefer the Bosch since it doesn't have the grippy paint. Unless you ordered a large quanity, shipping would eat up your savings though.

yeah. I have learned to play with the shipping calculator. keep going up one at a time with the quantity. Sometime is goes up everytime. Other times there is a tipping point and all of a sudden the shipping double because of one filter.

I wouldnt go that far,i'd put the P1 over the Bosch Premium anyday in filtration.

According the Bosch box found at AZ, the P1 and BP are supposed to be the same in efficiency(99.9). Interestingly though, now that AAP carries the BP, those boxes don't list an efficiency figure/number. Makes me wonder if the BP will all soon be the same as the Classic (97.5)? Still good though.

But, like the AAP Total Grip, I like the texture on the P1. Makes hand installation and removal a breeze. And, I personally have never had and issue with the texture on either filter.

Is the black Bosch 20 micron tho?

The BP filters I mentioned have filtech medai and are 99.9% efficient at 20 microns just like the P1. They are basically the same filter painted black.

Bosch premium

Rockauto filter pricing is funny and seems like what they carry constantly changes. That are now listing a Bosch "OE equivalent" for $3.44 and the premium is now 3.20. The OE equivalent is most likely a Purolator Classic lol.

How many filter can you typically buy with one shipping charging, and how much is shipping typically? I know we live in different areas but it should be fairly close. If you can get at least 4 filter shipped for under $8, then it'd still be cheaper than P1 and BP locally.

I started playing with how quanity effectives shipping price. I put one filter and it was ~$8 shipping via fedex then I put 2 filters and shipping dropped to ~$6 via postal service lol.

Well I put in 20 filters and shipping was $7.53 and the filter work out to about $3.55 a filter. Not bad for BPs.

I don't think there is any real difference between the P! and BP. For the BDP it's possible it has a thicker media, I don't know. It doesn't matter to me though because I don't do extend OCI and wouldn't pay that much for the an oil filter anyway. A lot of media difference are probably on a microsopic level so you're not likely to see the difference without breaking out your microscope

I found a supply of PF47 prE-cores at my local AAP for $3.79 ea.

Do a visual check, though, as I unintentionally bought a couple of Ecore PF47's that didn't have the 'E' suffix at Wal-mart. (The new stock now has "PF47E" on the box)

Part #19210284 is the Ecore version, Part # 19256042 is the classic design.

So far, no problems with Ecores, but I'm a classic design guy, too.

The Bosch OE equivalent I bought and cut open was made in Germany and not like any Bosch filter I had seen before. I posted a thread showing the difference bewtween them.

I agree that the prices of oil filters at Rock Auto isn't anything that I would just hop online and order but, if I was ordering an expensive item or large quantity of items along with the Rock Auto discount code and happened to need a filter or several even, I might get the filters.
