Oil filter wasn't changed

Gee, then why did the service manager HIMSELF have my back ?!?!?! I'll tell you why, he doesn't even trust his own mechanics to do the right job. You think I'm all that !!!! I'm a nobody,,,I know that....If that was the case, why in the world would the mechanic's boss let me see all the parts that were replaced. The manager would tell me to go scratch ! He don't trust his own mechanics, plain and simple !!! Maybe they all came from a Quik Lube for all I know.

Another example of shoddy dealership work. Took in a 13' Pilot for a re-call on compliance bushings on the front lower control arms. This was a different dealership, and I gave then the benefit of the doubt that they would do the job correct. Just drop off and pick up. No inspection. I get it home and inspect the work myself. Broken driver side outer axle boot, grease all over the place. Pass side lower ball joint rubber torn where they stuck a pickle fork inside to separate. More grease all over the place.. This is the way you give a customer a car back for a re-call of compliance bushings ?!?! Got it all fixed for free. Switched dealerships, and implemented my plan. I DON"T TRUST ANYBODY. SORRY IF I UPSET YOU. Haven't had a problem with dealership work in years.

I can only imagine more expensive jobs such as trans fluid, coolant, brake flush. Where it’s not as easy for a customer to verify work was done. I guess no different than when a customer sends food back. I’ve heard conventional wisdom is ok in a fine restaurant.

Just don't send the food back. Been there, done that. ( There were a lot of jobs for kids back in the day. I'm struggling to find my 14 yr old daughter a job, and she has working papers ! Nobody wants to train a kid in what the real world is anymore ) Anyway, had a job when I was a kid in a " decent" restaurant, as a waiter. " Um, excuse me ? , I ordered my steak medium rare, and it's FULLY RARE !!!!!..I want a new steak !!! " Sure, no problem sir. I take it back to the chef's. So, he throws it on the grill for 3 minutes, coughs up a huge, slimy one, and smears it all over the top of the steak. OK, here you go, one brand new steak,,with special sauce ( Don't tell the customer nothin or you're FIRED!!! ). Now, go give it to the customer kid. I say, " I saw nothing ". Thanks for the steak.

This is the way things should be done. I've trained my local Honda dealership to do this. Been dealing with them for years. 1st : Always have a fairly new loaner to let me use / 2nd : I bring them all the parts with a list of what to do and not to do ( getting old now, so a lot of the heavy-labor intensive work I can't do anymore :( )) 3rd: When car is ready, it must be on a lift for MY inspection of work done ... 4th : All replaced parts must be laid out on a bench so I can see they were replaced. 5th: If my inspection passes, the mechanic and shop manager get a can of KROIL penetrating oil as a tip ( the manager is also a mechanic). NO MONEY. ( except that I bought the Kroil ). They make enough on labor...It's funny, I walk around thru the shop like I work there, and other mechanic's are like " Hey ! You can't be back here !!! " I just walk right past them toward my car/truck. Owners gotta be more proactive with these clowns !!!!!! Be it a dealer or a Quik Lube. THE CUSTOMER COMES FIRST !!!

While being that extreme probably isn't a good idea, I agree about being forward. If the place gives you an attitude for asking questions or requesting to have parts returned to you. Do NOT use that shop and move on. They are probably ripping off their customers and you are a threat to that kind of shady operation.

Or in this case, he does trust them. A manager that suspected shennanigans would be less inclined to let you inspect.

If it’s working for you and the people in the shop don’t mind then keep doing it I guess. I’m not upset. I’m just saying I wouldn’t have put up with it.

Oh come on, I was with you for a while, but now this imagined scenario has gone to far. No biggie to throw a steak back on the grill if it's a bit bloody. Spitting on the food is criminal. Don't mess with my food.

Now like with wood, if it's cut too short, you can't cut it longer. So if a guy orders med rare and gets med, that's tough luck for the customer. Shut up and eat it. Cookie is busy back there broiling for 30 hungry tables. And don't punish the waitress unless she gives you lip and starts throwing plates at you and ignoring your table.

I have had tons of bad work done at dealerships - mainly warranty stuff. Criminally bad work. Transaxle not bolted in, halfshafts not snugged up, subframe bolts missing or crossthreaded. VW and Hyundai joints. 80's and 90's.

Maybe the drugs are better now.

The drugs were FANTASTIC in the 80's. All organic. Not made out of pure chemicals like they are today. I hope the generation using them today will live a long, healthy life, and the chemicals don't kill them at an early age :(..Feel bad for them. Now, as for the steak, I was a 15 yr old waiter working in a Ground Round ( a local NY restaurant chain ). I did not spit on the steak, the chef did. I did not want to lose my job. Period. So I did what I was told to do. I DO NOT request to have my replaced parts returned to me. I just want to see them, that they were actually removed. The dealership gives me absolutely no trouble whatsoever. The nicest bunch I've ever dealt with. I just have PTSD from other dealerships that burned me in he past by just drop off and pick up when job is finished. I so wish I was younger, I would just do the work myself. Please read my re-call post, and tell me I'm crazy. I bring the parts to the dealer to try and save some coin on the mark up. Labor rates are astronomical at a dealership. But, unfortunately where I live , there are no " good" repair shops. At least at a dealer, I get a 12 month warranty on work performed, plus a loaner vehicle. Sorry if I upset you in any shape, way, or form . It's all good :).....And the LAST place I'd take an Audi for a oil change would be a Quik Lube joint. If you can afford an Audi, you can afford to bring it someplace better for an oil change.
