You need help.....and I can't provide it. Have spoken to
the machinist after he viewed the video and now he has
enough information to continue since, as I said, he now
can plainly see what the OEM housing looks like.

OK ... have fun with that project.

I'm sure when others here (who are very mechanical) take a look closely at this thread they will see the same thing I am.

It is very clear that the filter in the video is a cartridge filter and the VW #06J115403J that you think your car uses that you need this adapter plate for is a spin-on filter. Do you know the difference between the two types of oil filter designs? ... it doesn't seem like you do.

Anyway ... as I said have fun, and I'm done trying to help prevent a train headed from going over the cliff.

When he's holding the removed housing he clearly
displays the inner disc (bypass valve) in the housing and
it is this part that the spin-on filter, or in my case the
adaptor, will go into. That circular disc is the 'magical'
connecting part the machinist needed to see with regard
to design. Now for our next project we will tackle an
easier problem, that being inter-space travel to other
galaxies.

Hate to say this, but you started this thread talking about your new vehicle (VW) spec'ing a spin on/canister filter. Then proceeded to show a youtube video showing cartridge filter which is a very different filter design. In the later, the outer housing is reused and only the inner filter media is replaced during the OC. Don't know how the sandwich would work on the latter.

The Purolator filter selector shows a canister/spin on being the filters used on all Beetle models, not a cartridge filter.

So perhaps interspace travel to other galaxies would be more understandable than the contradictory information posted in this thread. Just sayin.
