Wix 51085 vs Fleet Guard LF3604. I am considering useing one of these two filters. I like wix and use wix on my Honda Accord. A mechanic at work is trying to get me to use Fleetguard for my Hemi. What would be the better one. Another Question is do all Fleetguards have stratapore media?

Don't know much about FG filters. I would think that they would be more expensive due to limited distribution ..but so are Wix unless you're buying them through Fleetfilter

Sounds good, good choice of oil for sure.

As for the filter, I personally would use the Fram Extended Guard with the synthetic media. It is an awesome filter.

I just always hear so much bad about fram that I could not use them. I like the fact that I can say I use a wix. I was only considering the fleetguard because a mechanic told me about the stratapore media. He said its one of the best. But if its not on all of there filters then I will stick to the wix.

The Cummins Filtration website doesn't say the LF3604 is not Stratapore...but it doesn't say that it is either. When I looked up known Stratapore (LF16035) they definitely mentioned Stratapore...several times.

Now now, know what you are talking about before you discredit something.

The Fram Extended guard is nothing like the rest of the Fram #@$%! out there and has the capacity for extended oil change intervals.

The LF3604 is not Stratapore, but it is still a very good quality filter. I would use which ever you can get cheaper. Both Wix and Fleetguard would work great in this application.

Have an older Napa Gold filter kicking around from my old 318 Dakota that will fit the Hemi so I will use that next time. After that, I will go with a FL1 size filter as there is room to grow! The Dakota had NO room whatsoever so I had to stick with the stock sizing. Depending upon costing, I will go with a Napa Gold or a Baldwin. Those are the best ones that are locally available.

John.

You might consider the FL-300 motorcraft filter at walmart, it's a well made filter for around $3.00, it dosen't have a silicone ADBV (but neither does the mopar filter either).
