Hi there,
is it normal when doing a longer OCI than normal to have the car consume some oil? So far after 5000 miles (8000 kms), I have had to top up approx. a little less than a quart. My original plan is to go for 6000 miles (10,000kms). Oil is a HDEO Esso XD-3 synthetic 0w-30. Is it because the oil is a 0weight? If I used a thicker oil would that help? Or is this normal and I am just paranoid? lol

:)

Well, just because you're paranoid ... it doesn't mean that you're wrong.

You may have consumed this much anyway. You never went this far before (or so the content of your post suggests).

You may not see this consumption the next time you use it. I think that's what Colt is attempting to find out.

I would consider that acceptable, as others mentioned if this is your first time with this oil, see what happens next time. Either way I would not lose any sleep over it.

Oil can change after a few thousand miles are on it.
A car may may not burn much, than at 2-3K, start burning at a faster rate.
I expect this to happen.
