I've seen an oil change interval chart a couple of times. I have no idea of the source. Anyone have an original source on this?

3,000 to 4,000 mi - Frequent trips under 2 mi
4,000 to 6,000 mi - Urban driving
4,000 to 7,000 mi - Typical mixed driving
5,000 to 7,000 mi - Towing
7,000 to 12,000 mi - Highway driving

Where is that out dated transmission fluid change chart that has been floating around since "you - know-who invented the Internet?

Let the debating and arguing begin....

What debate? The question is what the source is. You either know or you dont.

volk06 seemed to be inferring that it might be a Bob Winters' chart but so far hasn't confirmed that was indeed his intent.

Those numbers are very, very broad. Many other factors to consider when determining a suitable OCI.
The chart may be based on conventional oil in a standard 4-5 quart sump, in which case I would never do 7000 towing miles...

I'm looking for the source.

Not really asking for an opinion on the chart.
How could you have one?
1.0L or 8.3L displacement?
2.75 qt or 14.5 qt capacity?
10 or 50 mpg?
Towing 1500 lb low frontal area or 20,000 lb high frontal area?
Which oil spec?

All those variables would make a huge difference in interval.

You forgot to add "Any driving or running at all of a GDI engine - 3000 to 5000 mi".

Might not apply. We don't know where the chart came from. I've seen it pop up a couple of times and want to know where it's from. I was hoping someone would know the source.

Just like your blanket statement doesn't apply. Some TGDI engines have 400,000 mi with 10,000 mi OCI on conventional. Others self destruct within 100,000 mi on 3,000 mi OCI with synthetic.
