The things you people worry about here.
Engines are not some little delicate hunk of metal that must be pampered.
Go lose sleep about something important.

Can you describe your oil change process, as in how long do you let the car sit before you do the drain, how long do you let the oil drain, how soon do you start the vehicle after you're done ?

If you have the engine warmed up, shut the engine off and drain within 30 minutes, don't let the oil drain for hours to get out every ounce you can (you'll get more than enough out with letting it drain for 10 minutes), and then start it in minutes after you button things up, how is this any different than starting your car after it has sat for a day or longer ?

I think you may be wanting to hear noise that's in fact no different than it makes every day.

I think some engines are just “loose and sloppy”. My 98 3000GT always did this no matter what I did to prevent it,but my 96 never did.

That is not an option with a lot of vehicles. My wife's Impala, the filter sits horizontally and with my son's new to him 08 Malibu, it is a cartridge type that sits inverted under the hood.

You can still put some oil in the filter and let it soak up into the media so it won't drip out when installing the filter. You'd be surprise on how much oil it will hold doing just that.

If it drained all night long it's really no different in the bearings than if the oil drained down into the sump all night long and it was started up the next morning, except for the dry filter aspect of course.

Nothing to worry about, but if it makes you feel better, pull the fuse for the fuel pump and depressurize, and crank over for maybe 10 seconds to prime.

True Zee0six. The filter will such up quite a bit of oil. Even my very small 6607 will soak up to 10 ounces.

Pull the injector fuse and crank it. Or perhaps your vehicle has some sort of clear flood mode (crank it with the accelerator to the floor). Crank for a few seconds then start if you're worried about it

Nothing to worry about, priming a filter isn't necessary either, the oil just gets sucked out of it anyway since you dumped it into the outlet side.
