What do you expect from synthetic oil? Which benefits are expected? To be more clear: do you need an iPhone6 to make a call if any 5 years Nokia does it just fine? In your case this is just waste of money:
1. Your car burns THAT much oil that you can forget about extended OCI benefits. Topping off becomes quite expensive.
2. Synthetic oil more prone to be burned. Would you put salt on a skin scratch?

I am afraid of you'll need to replace you catalyst if no actions is done...

I'd try a 5W30 HM oil, and have a look at the valve stem seals since you've already ruled out the PCV valve and leaks.

This make sense if you see blue smog when engine started. Otherwise this is useful, but will not make too much difference.

Hi CELICA_XX, the oil consumption that you are having could be caused from a number of things, to include warn valve guild seals. We would recommend using a high mileage motor oil. If you want to use a synthetic blend high mileage oil, Our Quaker State Defy High Mileage Motor Oil would be great (which is a low-volatility motor oil that helps decrease oil consumption by helping condition older seals). In a non synthetic version, we also offer our Pennzoil High Mileage Motor Oil. - The Pennzoil Team
