oil brand switching

last month I switched to castrol 10w30 hm. in 2500 miles I had to replenish nearly a quart. usually I would need this much for a full oci(6-7500 miles). in the past I have used 30w ,15w40,5w30,10w30, or some coctail brew from whatever is left over from odd jugs. superflo, supertech, ursa, synblends,valvoline a/c, re-refined sams club, pennzoil hm,and mobil1 5w30 which I might add caused this issue since it consumed no oil prior to use of this pao. no leaks or visible oil burning. smog and plugs are good even after 100k. engine has 217673 and is used as a delivery vehicle.help

Consumption is up but this level is acceptable especially in a high mileage engine. Sounds like current Castrol formulas have semi synthetic base so it's super slick like M1. Stick with the hm and over time consumption may decrease some, but not to the previous 6-7500 mile per qt. level.

10-30 GTX HM is pretty thick with seal conditioners. I see complaints that it doesn't stop leaks and consumption but I don't any that it starts them. Seems more likely its just telling you your days at 30W are over.
