I have been using Amsoil products since 1985, but have never done a used oil analysis. I am going to do one soon, and have noticed that Blackstone labs seem to be questionable at times, from what I have read on BITOG. Has anyone here ever used Amsoils link "Oil Analysers". At least they give you a TBN included. I have 2006 Impala SS that I have been using XL5W30 and a EAO32 filter and running the OLM to about 10%. It has 20,000 miles and around 60/40 local/Hwy. The OLM usually comes out to around 7500mi. at 10%.

I would go with Amsoil OAI. Amsoil either owns the labs or contracts with them. Cannot see getting a used oil analysis without a TBN (or TAN). I believe OAI also gives you OXID and NITR if the oil is Amsoil, but I am not exactly sure on that one. Anyway, you need trending to see what is going on not a single used oil analysis. But pick the lab and go with them for a few used oil analysis. OAI does not give you a paragraph of analysis, they cut to the chase if they see something wrong.
 
I've used them, they tend to make a lot of mistakes with the forms you fill out (they'll tell you that you didn't supply information, when you clearly write it in) and they also seem to take quite a while. My last sample took 1 month for them to give me the results. Sometimes they're quick though, I've had some take only a hair over a week... Blackstone is better from my personal experience in terms of accuracy and speed, but I do like the fact that OAI gives you a little more bang for your buck, like the included TBN testing.
 
Lots of folks use them. The prepaid mailer is the only way to go. The new email system is pretty slick. Their PPM numbers are just as (in)accurate as Blackstone. I think they are more accurate on TBN, viscosity, etc and provide Nit% and Oxid% on Amsoil products (as well as TBN) for a lower cost than Blackstone.

The negatives are they tend to be slower, although they they are better and more consistent with the new labs across the country. And that transaction has not been seamless. There seems to be some difficulty linking new used oil analysis with some heritage results from pre 2007 used oil analysis.

I don't think I said don't support them, but Amsoil supports the board as well. So it's a win-win.

Yes and the metals were different.
