Could very well be. All of the Ford cars I've removed OE NTK sensors from were built in the USA.

That may be a factor of the programming of the ECU--at what point does it say that the oxygen sensor is bad? It starts slowly degrading from the day it's installed.

As far as Denso sensors, the only sensor I've ever replaced due to a heater failure is a Denso. All the others I replaced due to codes or I just replaced them due to age.

Their brand 100% new (said that on the box) water pump lasted a whole 11,000 miles on my LT1, before it started weeping. Stock pump went 140K :) Two year old reman from Pepboys (where bosch was from- someone put wrong unit in bosch box when I went to get new one, so I just returned it as I needed the pump in a hurry) was fine when I pulled it off.

Many many people who put bosch 02s in their LT1s end up throwing codes, having it run horrible, etc. Put OEM sensors back in, and it works just fine.

Just like any product some can be hit or miss. I tend to stay away from Bosch if I can :)

Perhaps it's a Bosch/GM compatibility thing

Given their relationship with Ford, hehe

UPDATE: after a little calling around, a ma and pa parts store had a denso o2 for $34, so I gave them my $ instead. Old sensor came out w/out a hitch. Car runs so much smoother now, no more black chugging exhaust and the power has been restored. Im going to get the same denso unit for my 89 Sundance RS next!

Some of them, but none of the OEM ones I've ever removed from a Ford vehicle (88 Mustang, 93 Escort, 95 and 96 Contour). All of those were made by NTK.

On every Taurus I have worked on the O2s were NTK with the Ford logo.

I bought a new 93 S-10 4x4 in 93. It had a Bosch O2 sensor from the factory.

I recently bought some new pre-cat AC-Delco o2 sensor's for my two 98 chevy trucks. One with a 7.4L and the other with a 5.7L. They used different #'s. The 5.7L Delco packaged replacements were Denso and the 7.4L ones were exactly like the original Delco's.

I ran Bosch o2 sensors in the 5.7L truck for about 15,000 miles with no problems but all of the negative info I read made me go back to Delco which turned out to be Denso. I guess I will see how these do.

The 7.4L picked up about 2 mpg better with the new sensors in. I was happy about that.

Dont put a Bosch sensor in a toyota, they do not last long. I have seen many buy Bosch at AZ, as they are cheaper than the dealer, only to have the same problem.

Uh, I would think that any decent O2 sensor will last longer than a year or two!

Both post-cat OEM Bosch O2 sensors in my Audi are still the original factory O2 sensors. They are still working after over 12 years and over 170k miles. The two pre-cat Bosch sensors, the important ones, went bad about two years ago. I replaced them with NTK (made by NGK) sensors, which cost less (ca $120 a piece) than the OEM Bosch sensors (ca $170 a piece).

My feeling is that lots of the aftermarket parts that Bosch sells is junk made for people who shop by name. Bosch premium parts are usually of high quality, but they cost more than what one finds at the local APS chain.
