READING, Pennsylvania, September 13, 2021 – EnerSys® (NYSE:ENS), the global leader in stored energy solutions for industrial applications and the manufacturer of ODYSSEY® batteries, has expanded its ODYSSEY® battery brand portfolio to now include products formerly sold under the NorthStar®battery brand. As a result of the portfolio expansion, all NorthStar® batteries for transportation applications will now be sold under the ODYSSEY® battery brand.

The expanded portfolio includes ODYSSEY® Performance batteries, a cost-effective choice designed to handle the increased use of on-board accessories in today’s vehicles; ODYSSEY® Extreme batteries, a true dual-purpose solution that offers enormous cranking and deep cycle reserve power; and ODYSSEY® PRO batteries, engineered with an advanced carbon additive for more reserve capacity and longer cycle life. The entire line of virtually maintenance-free batteries, featuring proprietary Thin Plate Pure Lead (TPPL) technology, provide trustworthy performance and long-lasting power for a variety of vehicle applications including Automotive/Truck, Powersports, Marine, Recreational Vehicles (RVs), Heavy Duty and Fleet Vehicles.

“With over 25 years of production, ODYSSEY® batteries have grown to become a household name; one that customers have come to rely on to provide resilient and unmatched power for all their transportation needs,” said Dave McMullen, Senior Director of Marketing, Transportation & Specialty at EnerSys. “In an effort to continuously enhance the customer experience, our expanded line will combine the qualities of NorthStar® batteries with the tried-and-true performance of our ODYSSEY® battery brand to provide more options that meet the unique power demands of today’s vehicles.”

ODYSSEY® batteries provide deep cycle reserve power and maximum cranking power, with engine cranking pulses up to 3,125 amps for five seconds, which is double that of equally sized conventional lead acid batteries. The rugged, Absorbed Glass Mat (AGM) construction and non-spillable design of ODYSSEY® batteries protect against high-impact shock and mechanical vibration, helping to provide longer service life. Backed by an industry-leading warranty, they feature a three- to 10-year service life and a two-year storage life at 77°F (25°C). They are available in a wide variety of sizes with Cold Cranking Amps (CCA) as high as 2,250.

The "carbon enhanced" Odyssey Pro battery should have enhanced resistance to sulfation, making it a good choice for short trippers, and perhaps for marine use also.

Batteries+ sold the Northstar as the store brand "X2Power". It even had Northstar written on the battery label 2 years ago.

But the label looks different now. The case still looks like a Northstar or Odyssey.

A group35 X2Power battery sells for $310. Some years past, around January, it was possible to get about $90 off that price. Will be interesting to see what happens with discounts this upcoming January. Lots of "pandemic profiteering" going on these days with all types of products.

NS may be gone in name, but their spirit lives on in the Odyssey's made in the NS plant.

I think the Northstar brand will still be around, for applications other than transportation, such as backup power.

Has anyone seen the latest labeling for X2Power batteries sold at Batteries Plus Bulbs? I assume they will still honor the warranties on the NorthStar batteries they sold.
