No more Ethanol free gas in Canada?

Co-Op here in Alberta doesn't have ethanol in their 91 octane.
I hadn't heard about Shell going E10 across the board. I've been buying their 91 for my small engine stuff to avoid ethanol.

On another note, Am I the only one that's never seen a gas pump with the higher octane fuels on the left? They all seem to go from 87 up left to right that I've seen but in the OP's pics it's reversed.

When the marketing team is on point, the high octane button will be the one closest to the nozzle rack to encourage people to press it.

I picked up a ethanol tester and tested the Cheveron 94 I bought on April 28th. No ethanol content as of then.
I will test the Shell 91 out of curiosity when one of my containers is empty.

All Chevrons in the lower mainland have just recently removed the ethanol free stickers from the 94 pumps. It would be interesting to know how much ethanol they are adding to it now.
Hopefully not a full 10%.

They put the stickers on the pumps here back in the spring but haven’t actually added any ethanol yet.

I’m due to pick up some more gas for the bikes and OPE, I’ll test it and post the results.

Are you in the interior? I heard that they removed the ethanol free stickers there earlier this year but that’s interesting to hear that they haven’t started adding ethanol yet.
I’ll try my own ethanol test from a Vancouver 94 pump and post my results as well.

I just recently got that same little tester bottle. I need to test Canadian Tire 91 because they just recently removed the no ethanol stickers and or replaced them to all day up to 10%.
My first test was shell 91 which appears to have 9%.

In southern Ontario (outside of Toronto), Shell premium, VPower still is ethanol, free. The premium I purchase at Costco here is also ethanol free, and there are “a few, select“ Esso stations that are occasionally listed as ethanol free. But figuring out which Esso has E0 is a bit of a crapshoot.

I'm in northern Alberta.
Yes please post results.
I've heard Co-op premium is also E) but it shares a hose with regular(E10) so I'll pass unless that's the last resort.

I don’t have an ethanol tester (I’ve ordered one online).
In the meantime, I did a test in a clear plastic bottle with 200ml water, 600ml chevron 94.
It looks to have a full 10% ethanol content .
The “water line” increased to 10% of the total fuel level above the marked line.
This was with chevron 94 bought in Vancouver this morning.
I will do more testing at different locations when I get my ethanol tester.
Looks like I’ll be buying marine gas for my 2-strokes for now.

Thanks for the report.

I'm in southern Ontario (2 hours east of Toronto), my first test was shell 91 and it was nearly 10% ethanol. I haven't tested anything else. We have Esso stations all over the place but I was under the impression they stopped doing e0 in their 91 a few years back.
The problem is that there is no real way of knowing until you test it right?

Regulations in Canada regarding ethanol are dictated by provincial laws but the feds are implementing new regs for the future. Here is an example of some of the regs. It is not at the whim of the oil company to decide to go with ethanol free fuel unless the province allows it. Alberta seems to have a bit of flexibility but not Ontario.

When they say "up to 10%" that could be 0% to 9.9%, so how much % ethanol is going to damage the rubber fuel lines for my lawnmower? my snowblower?
After using E10 for 40 years I can say only the 2 cycle in the tank hoses go bad. Only other issues is a bad carb/gas tank design that does not run the tank dry and then water accumulates. Otherwise ti is great for keeping the system clean and water free as long as you run the tanks down before filling.
