No more Ethanol free gas in Canada?

Thanks to the boating industry in the state, they demanded it..

The Northern Ontario Tourist Outfitters Association are trying to do the same thing.

In April 2022 they wrote:
Ethanol blending will remain restricted to “regular gas” with an octane level of 87. There are no plans to blend ethanol into the medium (89) and high octane fuels (91) in Ontario.

I sent them the email from post #16 back in December so hopefully they have some pull to have the region exempted

I'm confused. It sounds like they're saying that the 89+91 don't currently have ethanol in Ontario? They mean at all/most brands of gas stations?

Hope that goes through for Ontario citizens! I'm happy the boaters did that here.

Canada wants to be "green" but they really should've read the Univ of Minnesota study (University of Minnesota College of Science and Engineering) that showed ethanol containing gasoline pollutes more than zero ethanol gasoline. Sorry you guys up North can't get it anymore! Come to Michigan, we have a lot of stations that have E0.. Thanks to the boating industry in the state, they demanded it..
Well to be fair, the state of Minnesota doesn't listen to the University of Minnesota on that topic either.

We still have easy access to non ethanol gas at least, it's labeled for off hwy or collector vehicle use only, but it's not dyed or anything.

I think they meant most brands of gas stations. At the time of writing, Shell and Esso were ethanol free and they supply to other brands like Canadian Tire and Ultramar.

Petro-Canada is a big one and has had ethanol for as long as I can remember.

Those who were using it for powersports and small engines are upset:

As with most things “green” it is probably more about the “money-green” than anything.

we got inspectors in us, go test the tanks, put a certification sticker right on the pump (right by the car, the 'despenser'), sez% octane. Pretty small sticker and who knows if even accurate. I think same ones certify it pumps the AMOUNT the lill flippin numbers say it duz, as well.

yes, here in michigan it's part of the dept of agriculture, weights and measures. they have the date when it was inspected/certified. and from what I heard, they don't screw around!

but do U C octane rating on their list of checks?
Do they do it in Canada? (we're on a canadian thread here 'research').
I do remember in Michigan they do check the advertised octanes per pump.. Don't know about Canada.. you're right, I'm jacking the thread.. ok I'll shut up.. ;)

"... jacking the thread.. ok I'll shut up.. ;)..."
no, no...let's just add 2 it for their edification.

so there U go guys. Any difference (help) for our Northern Friends? I
fear the corps have even more dominion over the peeps than here
in our own country due to citizen's petition ability, referendum, recall
etc, eh?

Federal government is responsible for making sure the pumps are working correctly but individual provinces are responsible for the quality of the gas (octane rating) so not sure if it's checked. Never seen a sticker from any provinces, only federal
