We had an NPR at work once that was gas. It was a good one. We had another NPR that was diesel. Twas a turd

The gas ones drink fuel like there's no tomorrow but are otherwise pretty reliable.

I build a lot of 6L90E's & 4L80E's for the older ones, 100,000 to 150,000 is all you can expect out of one before an overhaul

I've only driven an NPR once. It was one of those old ones with the 3.9l diesel. I can't say how strongly the engine pulled as the transmission was going out and it seemed like it was skipping second gear.
