Reservoir tank was drained during a repair, then supposedly filled back up by the garage (it was on my bill). My car is running just a tad hotter, but the gauge isn't even halfway to red line as before, but there is no visible liquid in the reservoir. Should I add more antifreeze to the reservoir? Or will I be ok until summer. I was planning on a system once the weather gets warm.

You should absolutely fill the reservoir. What car is it? if the cap is on the radiator fill the radiator too.

DEFINITELY check the coolant level, it was not properly refilled! If there's air in your cooling system you can't even really trust the gauge to read correctly- it may say you're cool enough but you could have raging hotspots where there are air pockets. Don't just add coolant to the reservoir, make sure that the radiator itself is properly filled also (assuming this is a non-pressurized reservoir system).

+1 to what's been said. May not have been 'burped' adequately on the refill. Let cool, check under radiator cap, and top up. Then fill with at least 50/50 coolant mix in recovery tank. Unless you have pressurized recovery tank, no rad cap, then just fill recovery tank per owners manual instructions.

Whenever I service mine I overfill the recovery tank a tad. I then add a bit as needed. It's usually stable after one or two heating:cooling cycles.

It is a 1997 Mercury Sable. It is a pressurized system. I bought the car cheap off an old lady in Florida, but I didn't get the owners manual with it. Going to fill up the reservoir tank per previous post. Do I need to worry about air in the system? If so, how would I clear it out?

Deos it have green anti-freeze in it like it should or other coolant mixed in? If it's green air won't matter but still best to have it completely topped off.

I think the air works its way out as it sucks in the stuff from the reservoir. I thought I bled the air out of my truck really well and checked last night and the reservoir was low. Filler up and check again in a few days when cool.

My car has a bleeder screw on the water pump since the overflow tank is pressurized.
