Nissan versa/tiida oil

My dad is going to buy a used nissan tiida/versa 2008 car looks and runs great 100 000km on the odo.
Here is the problem the recommended oil for the car is either 5w30 or 10w30 and the owner use the cheapest 20w50 oil available -__-. With wrong viscosity oil i believe maybe it caused extra wear.
Should he continue and purchase the car and switch to the correct viscosity oil or is it too late thanks

Too late. Tell the owner to throw the car out. You should probably throw away your S13 too if you are running 20w50.

The previous owner admitted to using 20w50 for the past 100,000 km ?

I guess if the price was right, and all maintenance records were provided... it might be a good deal

yep he admitted to use 20w50 the entire car life....i use 20w50 in my s13 because its a turbo vehicle and 20w50 can be used -_-. The vehicle is tuned for 350hp on 94 octane gas, 20w50 is the only viscocity oil it dont burns

It'll be fine. If your dad buys it,just grab some 10W30 in your fave brand and change the oil when he brings it home.

As much as we obsess about oil here its probably fine. If you dad is also located in the Caribbean then the car never really had super cold starts. At least the previous owner changed the oil.

Yeah,in a warm climate,should be good to go!

I would be tempted to run 5w20, and see what happens.
