I found an independant parts store thta sells all kinds of weird filters (mostly from Japan) but they look kinda old and smell like those volatile magic markers (don't ask why i smelled the filter

) I have a 1993 Mazda MX6 but I bought a larger type Mitsubishi filter made by "Nippon Filter" not Nippon Denso... has anyone ever heard of them? Its black and seems like a very well built piece. I chose it over the other filter they offered me because the pleats looked much thicker

any thoughts?

I like them and the denso 'first time fit' filter line. They are definitely two distinct offerings, the nippon filters always coming in rather plain looking boxes, like maybe they are sold as OE or similar and thus dont need the marketing on the box.

Densos have a glossy box and are more shelf-ready for store sales.

Both filter lines are of exceedingly good quality, and will be fine for 10k plus.

I like that both of these brands have a pre-lubed gasket, and a plastic covering for the internals of the filter,to help protect it from getting dust/dirt in there prematurely.
