Next Decade

I have owned nothing but Ford,Honda and Toyota for 20 years now and have been very happy with all of them. I think within the next 2 years Ford would have become #1 even without Toy recall. IMO they have earned it and are building some truly awesome cars and trucks. Once the Fiesta is available they will have something for everyone.

1 Ford
2 Honda
3 Toyota and Nissan will have to fight it out...

I don't bash GM, however there just not for me!

I predict that there will be verbal skirmishes on BITOG because a fanboy of _________________ (insert brand name here) insulted ___________________ (insert brand name here).

I predict that if someone asks what __________________(insert brand name here) oil brand would work for this application, he'll get 2 civil answers and then the brand war starts and the thread is lost.

I predict that if someone asks what brand of tool would be adequate for a certain job, the brand war starts and the thread is lost.

I predict that asking a question about re-seating a toilet in General and Off Topics will turn political and the thread will be locked, and 3 posters will earn "vacations" from BITOG.

I predict that someone could post a picture of a PTO driven invention that would cure cancer, swine flu, and the common cold as well as clean your septic tank and 17 people would belittle it because it's missing a PTO shaft guard.

Beyond those everything else in the automotive world is simply speculation.

That was awesome!

And in the next decade we will have very ignorant posters [just like this one] still posting complete 100% nonsense.

Ain't that the truth.

V-8's will stay in the picture, as gas will still be somewhat cheap.

I sincerely hope all of this comes true.

I'm pretty much with you on that. As a mechanical engineer who designed and built a hybrid powertrain in college, I can tell you that you want to minimize engergy "phase" changes, such as translating kinetic energy to electrical energy, because virtually every transition has substantial unavoidable losses. It's better to do the best you can with the fewest transitions, and do those few very well, IMO. That's what Ford did with EcoBoost, in essence, and it has worked well.
