Next Android phone?

I just got approved for a small loan with my bank to get an S24 Ultra. $1450, 9% APR but I'll be paying double to triple the $47 a month I'm agreeing to. I have straight talk so financing a phone isn't really feasable.

I have an S21FE and I have hated it since I got it. My old A71 5G was a much better phone, albeit slightly slower. I took TMO's trade in deal on it for $500 off for the S21 FE and with that you really have no choice but to do the payments because the credits are put in your account monthly. Well anyway next month it's paid off and I can move on to something better.

I really want an S24 Ultra, but, the price is pretty dear. Any other recommendations of something newer? Requirements are:

-Android (really will not consider an iPhone, been there done that and went back)
-6.5 or larger screen
-Wireless charging
-IP67 water resistance
-Decent software support - i.e. more than 2 years from release date.
-Octa core or better
-6GB system RAM minimum, 8+ GB better
-128GB storage minimum, 256GB better.
-Preferably less than $1000

Basically flagship specs, I know. Been looking at the Pixel 8 Pro and OnePlus options. What else is out there that's not available on the carrier websites?

Asus Zenphone 11 Ultra looks pretty nice for the price, it's $799 right now with $100 off, and it appears that it will get 4 years of security updates. But it's kind of a leap of faith because these phones are not common. I'm kind of reduced to browsing forums to find info on phones like this.
I actually have the same phone.

You're joking, right?

I just got a Moto G 2024, an upgrade from my Moto G 2021. Going over to my son's house to finish the upgrade otherwise I use up all my data......

Well now I feel a bit embarrassed. Just found out from the bank my CS is already 721. Three years ago it was 540. Oh well. Yall can hate if you want, I'll be enjoying my new phone with 100x zoom and a 200mp camera.

I always get a reconditioned / referbished phone. Save as much as 75 %.

You can sometimes find them locked to a carrier at lowest price. Unlocked usually cost a little more. Of course locked must be to who you will be using.

I have an Samsung A53 5G reconditioned that's locked to T-Mobile that I purchased a few month ago on Amazon for $150.00

I have seen it priced both lower and higher since then.

You have to purchase a Sim card from your carrier or others for $3.00 or less, and additional storage if you dont have it from an old phone, so maybe an additional $25.00

Because of these threads I ran across this. Im bored with cell phones, dont know where we go from here. However this is really interesting, seems like it raises the bar, way more so if you like photography.
Thing is it is not USA supported, seems like it is everywhere else in the world including the EU. Guess we lose out but you can buy it on Amazon but not warrantied in the USA.
Only compatible with T-Mobile GSM and the MVNOs that use T-Mobile network. The rest of the world operates on the GSM and why this phone is compatible with everything overseas.

Anyway. I could almost abandon my iPhone for this but doubt I would and so there is the warranty thing. Would have to get a new smart watch but my health insurance would pay for that. But everything else of mine is also in the Apple world, laptop, two desktops and the mentioned iPhone and Watch 9
At the least competition is good. This maybe the new world standard to beat and the price seems right. I mean, in a world where all phones seem to be the same now, all I can think of for the future in my life is an iPhone pro instead of out regular iPhones but this... whole other ballgame and maybe will pressure for more upgrades from Samsung and Apple.

I'm currently on the Pixel 8. It's the fourth consecutive Pixel I've owned and it's my favorite.

I'd say besides the many years of security updates offered now, another plus with the Pixel is the Google Store often has really good sales promotions with really good trade-in values of your old Pixel. I've gotten in to the latest Pixels before for not a lot out of pocket. Something to consider.

Besides that, GrapheneOS!

This phone is so badass. I'm taking a closeup shot of the moon tonight just to be cool 8)
I got a Pixel 7a back in October when I dumped T-Mobile for Google Fi. It's a great phone. My Samsung Tab S5e died two weeks ago and I replaced it with the Google Pixel tablet...It's pretty good but Samsung does tablets better. Although, $330 for the Pixel tablet is very reasonable and total integration with Google is convenient.
