Next Android phone?

Been a Motorola fan.. Latest is a G Power 2021.. Battery life was priority.. I get 2 days out of a charge.. More if I'm not working because I use it all day at work..
I went out of my way to give Verizon my money.. 2 stores that were closed because that had no one to work. And online because the website wouldn't work to take my money..

I got on Amazon and bought it unlocked for $185, had it next day.. It took me 5 minutes to link it to my Verizon Account and it was activated.. I didn't need them 1 bit., and never again..

The Finger Print Security is part of my life now. No pass Codes for anything FTMP.. Just my Finger Print.. . All my important Apps are Biometric secured.. I feel good about it.

I had a Samsung some years ago and there was so much crap and options on it that the battery would be dead by early evenings.. Not a fan. I got a Tablet as a gift that worked great up to the point where they stopped supporting it thereby strong arming you to buy a new one to replace the one that was just fine.. Never again..

Going back to a Motorola phone. I'll never purchase a Samsung phone again. Horrible OS and proprietary nonsense... Let's face it.... You should own your phone - Not the other way around!

∆∆ tots agree, too much bloatware with Samsungs and their batteries have never been good for me, don't always work well with MDM in office settings.
Motorola on the other hand has G series phones that I consider upper mid specs wise, little to no bloatware, very good battery life short and long term with phones like 4-5 years old, good antennas and reception. I use third party paid software for security and it works. Really like shake twice for flashlight and rocking twice for camera on features. No need for bragging rights with me so not spending $1800 on a phone like my wife...

My backup phone is my LG Velvet 5g. Great phone...but slightly bigger than I prefer. But with the Pixel 7a, the entire Android system with Google is seamless. The auto spam call and text screening feature is great. Camera is outstanding.

Page 2 has already morphed into people stating their opinions about what they like - nothing on this page is acceptable for me, but good luck with your phones.

These are the only current phones with:
6.5"+
Octacore (what the hell?)
IP67 cert. (only some companies pays for cert. like Samsung).
256GB+
6GB RAM+ (far from flagship)

Have fun with your new midrange Samsung.

What makes you think I would buy a midrange Samsung? Maybe because you're feeling hurt that I included your post in my blanket statement? Ok, I would consider a OnePlus and I have had one before. Would not consider the 12R though, it would have to be the 12. What is the release date for the 13?

Also, with your location, your market is not going to be the same as mine. I've traveled enough to know the markets between North America, Europe, South America are way different, and while I've never browsed cell phone shops like I have in Europe and South America, I'm reasonably sure the Asia market is different also. Never been to Africa or Australia so I'll leave those out.

+1 on the Pixel 8. Sometimes I forget I still have "only" a Pixel 6. I would have never felt that way with any other phones, although the only thing I care about is the phone has wireless charging lol.

Yeah I tried living without the wireless charging when I had the A71 5G and it drove me nuts the whole time I had it. I always had flagships before that and the Samsung SXX FE's are flagship-ish and have wireless charging.

We're all fooling ourselves. He obviously wants a Blackberry.
Got my first BlackBerry in 2000 or 2001, and had 5 or 6 of them before switching to Android around 2009ish. They were great devices in their time, but they were obviously obsoleted by the rise of the iPhone and Android, and BlackBerry was way too slow in responding. When BlackBerry finally introduced their next gen OS with much improved touch, it was actually pretty good, but the ship had already sailed, and it never got any app support.

On a similar note, I was looking at replacing a Galaxy Note 2 right around 2017 with a Nokia phone that had a Microsoft OS.

The specs on the phone were pretty solid for the time and the reviews were generally positive. I just couldn't get over the graphical interface. They had used strangely positioned cubes and squares, and even nearly an hour of playing with the phone (Nokia's had a soft spot in my heart), I just couldn't embrace the GUI.

I ended up getting an LG G5 which had the potential of becoming a real legend. It was almost completely modular. Upgrades were easy and the removable battery was a really nice touch. It also featured the first dual camera lens that I'm aware of and that really helped with my YouTube videos and dealership vehicles.

Unfortunately it had a ton of shortcomings that worsened over time. The antenna was horrific. I used to have to stand by windows to make sure my calls didn't get dropped. The camera software was buggy and LG decided that they no longer wanted to support their phones. I bought a ridiculously cheap Pixel 3a XL and five years later my wife uses it as her phone. I now have a 7a that cost $300 and am aiming for a similar five to seven year trajectory of ownership

Take a look at the Motorola ThinkPhone. It is the sleeper for Android phones esp at a cost of only $399. Also look at the Motorola Edge+ 2023.

Buy an unlocked phone so you aren't locked into one carrier. The coverage for the wireless companies is about the same unless you live way, way out in the country or mountainous area. And don't fall for that ultra fast 5G. There's a reason none of the top phone manufacturers included it in their phone.

BTW I'm in year 4 with my LG Velvet (Verizon). It was $5/month for a 2-year contract. It's been paid off for over 2 years. The ONLY reason I stay with Verizon is because the rest of the family and their need to have the iPhone.

Yea no midrange phones had wireless charging when I was in the market. Luckily the Pixel 8a has it now for $500. I just wish it was the size of an iPhone SE. I got small hands.

Haven't used wireless charging on any Oneplus phone.
No need, battery usage is low, capacity high and charge speed insane at 100W.
Can do 48h no problem when not used much.

Car charger with 65W is the solution if I somehow forgot to charge for 15min that morning.

If you are free from your T-Mobile contract next month, look into getting the discounted Pixel 8 Pro with a half price annual plan from Mint Mobile. Mint is one of the MVNOs owned by T-Mobile and the Pixel phones work flawlessly on Mint. You won't find a better value on a new flagship phone but it is only available for new Mint Mobile customers. The Pixel phones come from Google unlocked unless it is purchased through Google Fi.

Pixel 8 Pro Promotion by Mint Mobile
Sweet deal if one is sure that they will like Mint Mobile. I dont see why not.
I entered all my information and the Total upfront Cost for 15GB plan for one year with all the above promotions is $740
After the first year if you dont cancel your yearly rate doubles to $240 plus tax and fees - plan on $255ish. But you got the phone, only thing I cant find is after that one year period, can you unlock and be free to go elsewhere with the phone or maybe its unlocked form the start as you are paying upfront. I cant find anything on it.

LG does not make phones any more. There are a few Checker Cabs out there that still run but that information is not useful to someone seeking to buy new.
Octacore (what the hell?)
This simply means that there are eight processing cores in the CPU, so the processor can do eight different tasks at once. Although most of the chips implement this as two fast cores and six slower ones.
