A couple days back we visited Anakeesta in Gatlinburg, TN. Really cool place btw, especially with kids. Anyway, I noticed that on their private service roads they use a number of side-by-sides, and also newer Daihatsu Hijet trucks for maintenance. From what I could tell, they were the 10th gen, which started production in 2014. These are not old enough to be brought in like all of the other Kei cars are that are past the 25 (26?) year import restrictions. I’ve seen Kei trucks used numerous times by similar businesses in the past, but they were always older models.

Interesting.
As I understand it they have to be 25+ years old to be registered and driven on public roads in most states. It doesn't make sense to me but what do I know?

I would buy a Roxor if I could tag it.

I have complained to my congress reps for years about this infringement of our liberties. They always let me know what they think about this needless prohibition. Maybe you've also heard this sound.

Many states allow brand new Keis to be imported so long as they have a speed restrictor plate and are explicitly for use on private property, usually can’t even title as off road as they don’t want them on trails or ATV paths.

Something interesting is the Miles ZX40 family of vehicles were just Kei vehicles and fully road legal as nevs.

So just gotta import electric kei cars and they automatically meet all NEV rules except for DOT glass and would be road legal.

And skydiving, rock climbing, scuba diving and hundreds of other risky endeavors. When I was a kid we had a nanny who's job was to feed us and keep us from hurting ourselves. Her spirit is still strong and lingers.
