I'd go with what TeeDub and Pablo recommended, but also remember the Castrol Syntec 5w-30 BMW oil at the dealer is a good oil. It's a 5w-30 that "was" ACEA A3 rated so you could also check that out.

Turner Motorsports, who does work on my car as well as others recommends bmw's 5w-30, but I take that with a grain of salt since they rebuild their race engines. Also the dealers by me aren't doing me any favors by charging over $7 a qt. Looks like I'll try the 10w-40 from Amsoil for the M and the rest I'll use thier 5w-30.
