New tool thread

I betcha they carry that 'cause of 2nd Gen Ram 1500s. Been a thing for, well.....since 1994 or thereabouts.

I got a Sunex from Amazon years ago for this reason. Looking at my order history, it was 2012! Looks to be a Warehouse Deal right now for $15:

Sunex is good stuff. This one had to be 12 point though as Toyota loves those 12 point axle nuts. Fortunately I’ve never had to work on many Rams but I’m sure that’s the reason they have it lol.

Decided to go back to the tool section at AutoZone. The only AutoZone in town that is open till 9pm on Sundays because we had to get some electrical connectors for a project and I had been thinking about these since earlier decided to pick them up. Saves having to use an extension with your 1/4 hex impact. The AutoZone tool section has really come a long way in the last few years. I can think of a lot of places these will come in handy. I wish we had an AutoZone closer to our house lol.
It’s the furthest away besides Napa which is literally less than a block from AutoZone for both locations. I hate going in AutoZone at night because of their locations here are all in the unsafe areas of town. Guy who rang us up remembered us from earlier. He said they are updating their computer equipment and systems tonight as they had a company there unloading a bunch of new computers and technology equipment which I thought was pretty cool.

This is my third Tekton outlet order for discontinued items. I'm becoming a fan. These will go in the door card of my Ram so I never need to think about it. There are lots of crows feet and angled wrenches available as well.

Scored this Woodward Fab WFV-6.5 vise on marketplace in Cheyenne WY on my way through today. I don’t know much about this brand but it looks like a knockoff of a Wilton in a few areas although I’m sure not nearly as good. I needed one to put on the bed of my work truck and this one was a little less than half off what I saw then in the internet for. Still new in the box. Going to order a winch cover from Amazon to keep as much weather off it as possible once it’s installed.

Picked up these long double box end metric wrenches yesterday off the Snap-on truck. Very handy and useful I use my coworkers all the time so had to get my own. My only complaint is there is two 15mm. I’d prefer that they had left one of those out and gave me a 21mm instead but oh well. He also warrantied a 2.5mm hex bit socket someone gave me that was broken.

I keep forgetting to post new automotive tools in this section, but here is one I just got, to dig out a couple of rotten fence posts that were set in concrete. One of those posts was between a subsequent retaining wall and the fence, leaving little room to work, and the retaining wall was built about 2 feet above the previous grade, so, not only was there little room to work laterally, I had to get about 4-5 feet down to break up the concrete. Hammer drill that has a pure hammer mode. Shown with a lengthy drill bit, because depth of “cut” mattered more than anything, but I got an 18” chisel bit that worked better.

It’s narrow enough to fit, where the 20lb Makita demolition hammer that I had rented would not fit. I got the cordless just for convenience, so I didn’t have to run 100’ of extension cord. While it didn’t have the power of the Makita, it had more than enough power to chisel out the concrete.

Scooping out the broken up concrete and soil was yet another challenge, that couldn’t be solved with a power tool, and involved a few hours laying on my side, reaching down with a trowel…

Wow that is dumb! Why two 15mm? And then finish the set at 20mm? There should be a 21 there somehow.

The sets never made sense.....I bought all mine individually, 12/14, 13/15. 16/18, 17/19 & 21/22
I've also found this with the swivel impacts. Like in 3/8" dr they skip 11/16". I actually was just wishing for it on ZJ motor mounts so purchased separately (used, good condition, ebay)

In metric they stop at 18mm but if you have the fractional set you can use the 3/4" for 19mm, which I've been doing for now.

In 1/2" they stop at 21mm and I just wanted 22mm. Again, if you have the fractional set you can use the included 7/8"

Still, I prefer the logic of no-skip sets that both stop at an approximate equivalent like 3/4 and 19 or 1" and 24 or 1-1/4 and 32
