New tool thread

Got this the other night, having never used such a product. I get the impression it’s superior to simply cleaning with something else (like dry or with Windex). I was fixing a 19 yo power window switch and I got the impression being blasted at the contact points, both sides, by this, actually worked big time.

Must have tools if working on snowmobiles. Exhaust systems are held together by springs and some springs are in tight spots. I've got a few in different lengths and styles.
Recommend any with larger T handle but about the same size hook?
I think the point is to spring for the spranger before the spranging needs to be done.
You guys want to know what I tried? Well no jawed pliers device, locking or otherwise would work. Could not much get a grip. Tried a 90° handleless screwdriver, locked in Visegrips, nope. Pullers and such. Nope.

Oddly HerberFright does not have spring pullers.

I actually ended up using of all things, a spark plug boot puller. It worked, but hang on with both hands and pretty wife wedging the tensioner itself. Next time I'm buying a 145.65" long belt!

The controls guy at work recommended these to me. They cut wire well too, but he primarily uses them as “flush cuts” for zip ties.

Dirt cheap. Bought 5 for $21 something before tax.

Just picked up a $19 boroscope on Amazon. Probably only use it for looking down spark plug holes. Got it this morning and it’s actually pretty cool for the money.
Don’t bother with any of these cheapies. I sent it back. Put it in the spark plug hole and all I could see was the light reflecting back. Tried everything. Need to spend a little more money I think…..

I assume an app was needed to view and operate it? Did you happen to look at the privacy settings of the app?

No, it has its own screen. Doesn’t take pictures either. It was junk. For $20, I shouldn’t have expected much. I was just hoping to be able to see the top of the cylinders through spark plug holes. It was bad….

Anyone know of one that works well without breaking the bank?

The pics in the listing seemed promising lol. I suggest running any amazon link through fakespot

The one thing I noticed probably 15+ years ago with my first M12 was that the adjustable light brightness was key, even if it's only a hi/med/lo. Too dark, and you can't see anything. Too bright and it's just glare city.

Wow that's uber fancy! You mean banging them on my butcher block bench top to close the gap isn't best practice?? :D
And for $15.99, it’s on its way via Amazon…. I have one car for which I need to set the plug gap, but I spare no expense on that car…

Some new tools today from my second favorite tool/parts place Napa lol. I broke my 8oz ball peen at work so I needed a replacement one. They are the only parts place that had one. And then some sockets the 14mm is for the house because I ran into a situation where I rounded the heck out of a bolt because all I had was a 12 point 1/2 14mm at the house so Napa to the rescue again as the only place that sells 6 point 1/2 sockets. O’Reilly does sell the deep 1/2 in 6 point but O’Reilly is like my absolute last resort parts place due to rude staff. The 10mm hex is the perfect length for working on Toyota. No extension needed and not too long. So now I have 3 lengths which is awesome. I just hate Napa hours though but their tools are top notch.

Yeah, I ordered one, too [sigh]

If I had time (HILARIOUS!) it would be a cool machining project. I had to build this little vise in school which is practically the same thing :D

You have a NAPA open on a Sunday? Nothing like that exists here in BFE!

Interesting looking jack. What is it used for?

What is the difference between the new updated Tekton wrenches and the older style, other than the finish? I have a set of the older ones, and they are not the most comfortable wrenches to handle because of the minimal chamfering on the edges.
Used this today on a Polaris. I gotta say, it's really nice in places where you'd typically have your jack and jackstand competing for real estate. Now I wanna order the larger version, too.
