I got influenced
This is the Icon wrench set that's been doing the rounds on TikTok beating the Snap On at their own test

Now, I do recognize that the big name tool brands are superior in some areas
But that gap is not relative to the price differential, at least in my use case
I don't do this for a living
$70 for a 7/10ths quality wrench set over a ~$600 set is in line with my needs
Sales on till Sunday 8/18, they have a SAE and Metric set

These tools have been getting Mr Subaru in a lather ever since he couldn't kill the Hercules Ultra torque impact. He was praising Milwaukee, maybe he does not realize they are not real Milwaukee tools just another name owned by a Chinese company.

Facom 501A locking pliers, made in France. Bought them at Amazon Global Store for $58. Overall length is about 9 7/8", and jaws open up to at least 3 1/8" (80mm). Facom also used to manufacture these for Proto Tools, but they are now discontinued at Proto.

Ugh, so difficult for me to find that RoyaltyAuto ponytail guy credible since he was convinced a slightly different weight gear oil destroyed that Bimmer front diff.....

I just can't stand to see him anymore. I'm sure he knows stuff but that front diff thing lacked any credible evidence

I finally got around to sourcing some rubber mats so my ramps don't shoot across the floor. I decided on these at HD.

My wife saw one had a corner that appeared to have been noticeably nibbled by rodent. The one below had a cut in the corner that looked like a box cutter got out of hand. She suggested I ask for a discount so I figured why not. I showed our cashier the damage and expected 10% if anything but she did 50%. I won't complain about that.

After completing an oil change all I could think was why didn't I do this sooner. So nice to not have metal shrieking like nails on a chalkboard or see ramps shoot forward into view as I back off them.

I also got these body pin pliers. I think @Trav initially put these on my radar as Cornwell HRC54. I believe the Cornwells are actually CalVan. Note CalVan just goes by "Part No. 54".

They're $10‐15 cheaper if you don't pay for the Cornwell name.

Indeed. I wasn't willing to buy it at full price, but at 40% off it wasn't very expensive (<$40).

It has. A lot better than the cheap ones they gave us at my work. I don’t have any issues with the Milton ones.

What is the difference between the new updated Tekton wrenches and the older style, other than the finish? I have a set of the older ones, and they are not the most comfortable wrenches to handle because of the minimal chamfering on the edges.

I believe that jack rod installs on your floor jack to make it act as a jack stand too

Yeah I think just the finish? I agree they're not comfortable, but honestly I've yet to need a 30/60. I can seem to recall times in the past when I might have wished for one, but I could be imagining problems to match a solution.

Point is, I don't think I'll use them often.

Yeah I couldn't decide if I wanted the 2 or 2.5T version.

I've got jacks of all flavors but it's also about where (height) you think you might want it. Like right now I'm supporting a Subaru engine at the oil pan and the jack is not that extended. The 2.5 is longer to begin with and of course longer fully extended.

Obviously the answer is always get both. I'll probably add the 2.5 to my Christmas wish list.
