Felo W. Germany

25 - 30 Torx Bit; 0.8 - 2 Phillips and Slotted bit

Works nicely.

Found while parting a 1990 Volvo 740 at my mechanics. Didn’t know I had one in both Volvo 240s. They now live in the glove compartments. 🙂

Eastwood Zero Offset Extra Long Double Box End Wrench; 10mm to 19mm
I liked the Capri Zero Offset wrench so much I bought this set.

Duralast Flex Flare Nut Wrench; 10mm - 12mm
I’d like a 13mm - 15mm one as well. Haven’t found one yet.

Those Eastwood wrenches are nice. Good buy.

Wiha hex screwdrivers. Was going to try a set from Wera, but they're backordered, and an additional loose driver in the size I plan to add to the set utilizes a different handle in their line. Also didn't hurt that a promo knocked 35% off the cost of the Wiha. If Bondhus made straight-cut hex drivers, I likely would have gone with them, but alas, they don't.

Last time I needed flare nut wrenches (11/12, 13/14mm), I ordered some NOS US-made KD wrenches from Cripe Distributing off eBay. Granted, rounding off a fitting due to an ill-fitting wrench will wreck you day, so there was risk, but the quality was good, and they worked out well, considering how cheap they were. As seldom as I need them, I couldn't justify the cost of a good set.

Snap-on Monday this week. He will be by tomorrow and Thursday as well. Didn’t post anything Thursday because the new shop manager won’t let us go if there is anything in our bay. That’s ridiculous in my opinion but I’m not trying to get in trouble. So first got the mini set of torx in red. Only color he had I was hoping for orange to match the Phillips and flat set I have. Snagged another 11th finger aka pocket screwdriver lol. He asked don’t you get one of those every week? And I said absolutely don’t you give them out for free every week? He laughed. The I got a bent handle ratchet. I know I said I’d never buy a comfort grip ratchet but they only make these with comfort grip or metal grip no hard plastic like I prefer and he had the comfort grip on the truck in several different colors. This one is dark titanium which I really like. The ratchet is great for putting your weight on something with the bend. I’ve used it several times for really overtorqured drain plugs so since I’ve done my fair share of borrowing way more than three times I figured it was time for me to get one. Then had a screwdriver from eBay which the tip was bent on so had him replace that. The two sockets a 16mm shallow and 9/16 deep were warranty replacement from two eBay sockets as well.

You should be a goodwill ambassador for Snap-on

I thought you preferred Matco ratchets over Snap-on?

No only the locking flex head now. Snap-on locking flex head design is terrible because it’s hard to turn the lever and the lever gets caught on things which my preference is for the Matco there. I used to prefer Matco but that was before I used Snap-on ratchets so Matco was my go to before that.

Good to hear. For a while I thought you had jumped ship to Matco. :)

Snap On redesigned their locking flex head. IIRC it is only available in 3/8" drive, and it's the long version in no grip and soft grip versions. I'm patiently waiting to see the price on Ebay or hunt down a truck to see what kind of money they sell for.

US Pro long noise "double X" hose pliers, ironically shipped from the UK via ebay. I really was just after the smallest size and Gearwrench apparently no longer offers it a-la-carte. I already have the GW "middle" and "big" sizes.

Anyway the biggest one of this US Pro set is a little smaller than the GW, so I basically gained two sizes in addition to what I already owned: the smallest and the biggest

Curious, what jobs do you use those?

Oh man......well....EVERYTHING I guess

Anytime I've gotta pull an intake manifold, valve cover, heater hose or bypass hose, PCV stuff, etc they usually come out

The extended reach also makes it nice for today's modern vehicles where hoses are often hidden in the depths, behind something, or under a cowl.

The GW do seem to be of better quality and I believe you can still get their 2 or 3 piece set

Snap-on Thursday today. Picked up a Blue Point scraper. Need that for scraping state inspections off. I’m going to make sure to write my name on it as just about everyone in the shop has the same one lol. Then a hard handle regular length fixed head 3/8 ratchet. That particular length is my go to for removing oil filters or just about anything but I never can get drain plugs broke loose with them lol. And I’ve been wanting to upgrade the two I have in my work box so I have done that now. He only had purple or green and I ain’t the biggest fan of green unless it’s the combat green that they have. And then a spark test pocket screwdriver. Pretty cool I think. It’s another pocket screwdriver lol 😂. I’ll call this haul some early birthday presents to me haha. I’ll probably use the scraper and the ratchet before the end of the day.
