Home Depot haul. AutoMechanic is a little unhappy he had to buy another battery and charger to get a replacement battery. Home Depot can’t do Milwaukee warranty unfortunately after 90 days. And they didn’t have this battery with any tool or individual or twin pack none in stock except with the charger but I can’t afford to have a tool down that I use pretty much constantly on every car. Yes I have my air impacts but that is time consuming fiddling with the hose and putting oil in and everything like that. The good thing is mom used her military discount to save me 10% and the manager gave me an extra 10% off on every item for the troubles and then thanked me and my dad for being nice and not getting angry like most customers do when they can’t help with the warranty so that’s a plus lol. The sockets are for work. Going on empty spots on my trays I know I bought the Duralast yesterday but I can’t put those on the rack without my OCD killing me lol because it would break up the set. But I know they are cheaper than Auto Zone for sure and made by the same people. Plus with the discount they all came out to under $3 each so I’m happy. And yes I still buy standard tools. I needed a 9/16 1/4 drive that was a little thinner for my tray because the ones I have are too thick to set next to the other sockets. The 18mm spark plug socket is to fill in my work spark plug socket set.

I think what happened with the impact is I think my coworker dropped it and the battery quit but I don’t know for sure I just know being the nice guy I am I let everyone use it when I’m not and it stopped working suddenly while one of them had it. But we are all good so I won’t put blame on any of them and I could be wrong it could of just gave out finally but only owning it since July I would expect it to last a lot longer than this. I tested the impact with another battery from someone else and it done fine so I believe it is the battery that is the problem. It charges fine but it’s totally unresponsive when you take it off charge and put in on the impact.

Start shopping Home Depot online. I bought most of my Milwaukee stuff from Home Depot.com.
You could've a got a XC6.0Ah & a CP3.0Ah battery for $169 HERE

I'll loan out special tools that I don't expect other mechanics to have, But never basic stuff like Impacts. And if they break it....They bought it unless there's a no hassle warranty.

Rarely do others care about your stuff like you do....Food for thought.

I am the only wrench on my street and love to help out the neighborhood. I lend out simple stuff from time to time.
A neighbor asked me if I had any "mollys"; he meant allen wrenches. I lent him my Snap On set and told him they were expensive. The box came back full of plasterboard dust or something. He could care less.

https://www.arlabs.com/eprom_plus.html More and more as control modules become obsolete we need to repair a module or install a used module where the OE never intended which can involve modifying VIN numbers and other identifiers. This tool works well to allow me to do some of that. Its my third tool for EEprom and MCU work and I will probably buy at least 2 more

Thanks....Cloning GM PCM/TCM/ECM's via HP-Tuners get's expensive! Wonder if I have pre-tuned PCM....I can then Clone it?

IO Terminal would be a far far easier tool to use to clone GM modules. IO terminal is particularly useful when you have a global A module that has an environment identifier in it you can clone the original module to a used module and the car doesnt know the difference. AR32 or VVDI prog could probably do it but you would have to open the module up and access the eeprom and MCU and possibly flash memory. IO terminal you could do it on the bench with something like a godiag GT100 to connect the tool to the module or while the module is still in the vehicle.

With IO Terminal, if you have a module tuned and ready to go, copy and save the file out of it, then you can paste that file into as many modules as you want.

Another awesome thing you can do with it is clone Ford smart junction blocks. an SJB can easily take an hour to program with PATS and TPMS if needed. Cloning on the bench takes about 10 minutes and the module will be plug and play.

IO Terminal doesn't appear to support Delphi P01 or P59 PCM's or 4 speed T42 TCM's.....Even though it supports the E38 ECM that's paired to a T42 TCM in just about every '07-'09 GM 1500 Truck.
But just being able to clone/rewrite 6 speed T43's in Global platforms might make it worth the price. Got quite a few good 6L45E/6L50E Global T43's that I could put to good use.

Earlier I posted about my BP harmonic balancer puller from local pawn. I got to looking at the new equivalent-ish kit from the SnapOn website and noticed they now include a "push rod tip" that wasn't listed as a part in my kit.

It's the HDP1800-4 so I ordered just to see. Appears to fit my push rods perfectly. Will I ever need it? Eh, probably not but I like tools.....

Oh boy guess who went to The Home Depot and spent too much lol 😂. The battery was free this time because warranty. The Home Depot in the ghetto has way more tools and had the batteries separate. They had exactly one left and the nice lady at the service desk took care of it. They said where I bought it in a kit I’m technically supposed to call Milwaukee or bring the whole kit in to replace. But they went ahead and done it anyway and I appreciate that. Then I seen the tool isle and there was no turning back lol 😂. This one has a ton more tools than the one on our end of town it’s been so long since I’ve been in this one so I didn’t remember what they had. Everything there is for work except I probably will keep the adapters at home as I have those at work and I broke a really cheap one at home so that’s what I’ll probably do. The shallow 13mm is a replacement for my coworker who’s socket I cracked. The 13 deep is for me. Then the 19mm impact is for my coworker Joker. The long ratchet is 3 inches shorter than the one I ordered from Snap-on over three months ago now that I still don’t have in my hand. I was going to order the stubby ratchet when I got my impact but I decided to wait on it so I seen it at this location and grabbed it. Also grabbed the 140 tooth 1/4 ratchet too. It’s supposedly a new product from Husky it was under the new product label. The wrenches I got because I like to have extras of those. A 10mm ratcheting wrench is a life saver especially when replacing Subaru batteries. Both made in China they had some newer combination wrenches that were made in India and I will pass on those as I’ve never not broken a tool from India lol. Got my mom’s military discount on it too so it took some off the bill which helps a lot. They didn’t say a word when I was putting all of this in the buggy I was really surprised lol 😆

Whenever I think I have a problem I'll just use AutoMechanic as my benchmark....I have no problem not buying hand tools at AutoZone or Home Depot ;)
I understand that lol. I just love tools in general. Some would say I love tools more than cars 😆. I actually love everything from AutoZone. You can ask my coworkers I’ve done showed them all my shiny new Duralast and Husky things. My boss opens my toolbox from time to time to borrow something or just look and always says that’s one thing I really like about you is you buy Snap-on but you also buy other brands too and are not bias towards any brand. I love my Duralast stuff I don’t know why but I’ve always had a thing for auto parts store tools or retail store tools. Have no idea why. I’ve been using the heck out of those Duralast deep sockets the last 3 days.

I can see that being handy, Allows use of shorter push rods.....I have the version right before that one, YA6490 (without the "A" suffix) & have bent some of the longer push rods.

How are you with changing spark plugs in Subarus? As you know, some Subaru models have very little space between the body structure and the cylinder heads.
I learned a trick from a tech I put the socket down and get it in the cylinder then I push it on the plug with the extension and put the ratchet on. Sometimes I’ve had to use a universal joint on the end to help too. Glad I don’t have to do plugs in them everyday that’s for sure. I’m sure there are other ways to do it too but that’s what works for me. Usually for the driver side I take out the battery. It is so much easier to get that front one without the battery being there.

About 5 months ago I bought a bench top WEN 12" variable speed drill press, for a grand total of $277.
https://wenproducts.com/collections...ts/wen-4214t-12-in-variable-speed-drill-press

It's a decent drill press for light duty occasional use. As usual with cheap Chinese machine tools, some of the threaded holes are drilled a bit oversize, presumably to reduce tap breakage during manufacturing. When the press was first started, the digital speed display was very erratic. WEN sent me a new circuit board/display, but that did not fix the issue. Then they sent me a new speed sensor, and that fixed the problem. I measured a runout of 0.0008" at the arbor, and 0.004" at the chuck jaws, which is good enough for what I do. The table is easily adjustable for perpendicularity in the side to side direction, but not the front to back direction. I had to add a shim to improve perpendicularity in that direction.

Had a Snap-on Thursday this week lol. Didn’t make it to us on Tuesday because our other shops are so big and they kept him really late last time so he came to us today. Wasn’t going to buy anything but seen the straight jaw locking pliers in 10 inch. They made be cheaper by the company who makes them but I like the hassle free easy warranty on the truck plus he has been good to me from day one so I don’t mind paying extra for service. Also got my bosses Blue Point vise grips warrantied they finally came in but I don’t have a picture. I wanted a calendar and they were free so I got one lol. Going on something at home I’m sure. My balance is now under $500 too so I’m happy. Anyone in the NRV area who needs tools give him a call.

Will be posting my Advance Auto haul later I cleaned out another one tonight and going to more this weekend.

Advance Auto haul tonight. $70 worth of tools sitting here all on sale. The individual sockets were not on sale however I know the people who work at this location and received a discount on them too. The impact sockets were $10 for the shallow set and $13 for he deep wells. I will put those to good use on the Freightliner. The big ratcheting wrenches were $8 each the small I believe were around $5 each. Dad bought me the ratcheting line wrenches he said they looked useful so he wanted to get them for me and I appreciate them and will try to use them when I can. Still doesn’t replace regular line wrenches though. The AutoCraft 15mm was $3 and I wanted a longer one as I’m putting together a longer set of wrenches now. They actually laughed at that one because that brand hasn’t been in their store tool wise in about 8 years they said so it’s all old stock stuff. The only thing I use 15mm on is my personal stuff usually so it will be fine for that. Then the magnetic spark plug socket 13/16 I got for $6 just about all of my old stuff has 13/16 plugs in them so that will be useful too. The $70 includes the wrenches he bought for me the total I paid was around $45 because the line wrenches were the most expensive thing. The only thing I really didn’t need were the two chrome sockets but I can’t resist a good deal. I might spend a lot on tools but they will all be put to use. I had to leave before I bought the whole tool department LOL.
